    Changing Nav Discs?

My '04 V didn't come with a nav disc, instead there was a copy of 007 Casino Royal in the DVD slot.

My GF has an '08 SAAB 97x Aero with Nav and I took the nav disc out of that to see if it would work in the V and to my surprise it didn't recognize it. The SAAB has the same nav unit as the H3 and is very similar to a couple others in GM's lineup.

Is there any reason it shouldn't recognize a GM disc? I'm not dying for Nav but it would be nice to at least have a map of where I am come up.

Where's the best place to find a cheap nav disc. Doesn't have to be the newest.

    Just read this thread:

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...tion-disc.html

From what I can tell I need a firmware update.
Are the navteq 6.8 or the $160 GM disc my only options?

there are typically used discs on ebay. be glad for that. 2nd gen CTS nav disc requires a vin-specific activation code.

and the former owner could have at least given you a good movie.

    Re: Changing Nav Discs?

A firmware update is not why the Saab disc didn't work. There's more than one type/format of "GM nav disc". You need one that is correct for the CTS. And as mentioned in this thread and the one you linked, Nissan/Infiniti 6.x discs work (for Nissan cars around the 2004-2005 model year).
