2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V General Discussion Discussion, Bought my dream car in a '06 CTS-V, but FML in Cadillac CTS-V Series Forum - 2004 - 2007; I took way to long to align this!
This is just the supplemental. So, some of the original estimate still ...
FML some more, so insurance is saying after their response to the supplemental that the total is now around $11k. They're also saying that is around 70% of the value of the car. WTF? They think this car is only worth $15.7k?
I paid $23.7k. They're about $8k off. I'm not taking a bath for this car . . .
Sorry to hear that they are messing around with you. Did you read CadzillaTN's comment about trying to get your home owner's insurance to cover the car? If you are already paying your homeowners deductible you might as well try to get them to cover it.
That $15.7k sounds terribly low, perhaps they looked up the price for a normal CTS. Although I'd have to assume that they look up those things by VIN, so I'm not sure how they would mess it up that bad.
Insurance companies always start with low-ball positions. Although what happens next depends on the company and the state, you will likely need to counter with blue book values and local examples of CTS-V listings. Right now, used car prices are relatively high due to a general shortage of both new and used cars.
Sewell called to say insurance will allow for the unibody panel AND not total it. Work should begin soon. They've had it for two weeks, but got nothing done because of going back & forth with insurance. It'll be another three weeks before it's done!
Sewell will work with me on a custom hood if I pay the difference.
Finally, but it sucks being without the V for so long because I had a lot of fun driving it for the time I had it!
I got caught in a hail storm last Sunday and immediately thought of you and then thought (shit, shit, shit!). Luckily the hail wasn't big enough to do any damage, but it sure sounded scary (as in, scary expensive) as it hit the car!
