Does anyone know of any, or recommend any, track-day insurance? I'm signed up for the event, but am thinking this might be worth looking into.

When I did a track day recently I called my insurance agent to inquire about my policy and what I needed. I did a HPDE event and he told me it was considered to be driving school and my policy covered me, saved me a few bucks not having to go with track day policy. However, for total piece of mind it is money well spent.

    which company?

(not that anyone should take this as confirmation of coverage. always check with your ins. carrier)

Allstate and State Farm do not cover ANY kind of off-road driving. It is all considered competitive driving and is an exclusion. I suspect most major carriers are the same.

Commerce Insurance in Massachusetts had the policy worded to cover an HPDE as long as contact was not with another car. My agent refused to confirm, probably to cover their own butt(I don't blame them), but I went over that policy with a fine tooth comb and my V was covered.

It's not too common, but check your own policy. Your agent probably also will not confirm it for you...

You are correct, the point was to suggest checking with your carrier/agent so you are not spending money you don't have to. My company is Grange Mutual through an independent agent. I did not intend anyone take my statement as implied coverage. I did close the posting with a pretty clear statement that track insurance is total piece of mind for your ride.

Checked with USAA and they won't cover it. The track day coverage is almost as much as the event itself, and has a pretty high deductible, but I guess if the worst happens, it's better than nothing...
