The Qi45 is all modular & separates the display/buttons from the "brain"/speaker which both are separate from the antenna/diffusers. I forgot to get a pic of the antenna/diffusers, I'll get those later.

Here is the Qi45 mounted on the cluster of my Impala. The hole is where my old Vector Remote was installed & the speaker (LOUD!) & brains are installed in that pocket behind where the Vector was.

I'm thinking of putting the display right above the rear view mirror or some where near the cluster again. If I put it near the cluster, I'm thinking of putting right on top of the steering wheel or to the right. Where it's mounted on the impala is PERFECT. It's about 3-4in behind the keys in the ignition. So it's a very natural motion to reach for the buttons. On the left hand side where my old Vector was was a lil bit a pain in the butt. Less ergonomic.

I don't have any pics on my computer ATM but it is just as high as possible on the windshield and to the right of the mirror. I put some tape up there and super glued the suction cups to the tape.

For RADAR you want the unit as high as possible to get the maximum range out of it. Yes you might lose a little tiny bit of LIDAR detection but that is only telling you that you are getting a ticket anyways. (Save for having Laser Interceptors).

Congrats on the V1! You will learn to love it and not be able to drive without it!

and also need a good laser jammer/detector......

    any input?

I have not seen that detector before. I like that it has GPS, but I do not like that the laser detection is built into the same antenna as the radar. Look at the pictures above of my Escort Qi45. It's about $700-800 with laser diffusers (aka jammers) with some shopping around. The diffusers can be installed later/separately & are not part of the radar antenna & can be mounted where they'll be most useful (ie, near front plate/headlights, not dash or center grill).

In fact, I see it doesn't even jam laser, it just detects. Laser detectors are simply ticket detectors. Jamming will give you a shot.

Incorrect. While most of the time it tells you you're getting nailed as it goes off, it also detects laser fragments that pass through, or deflect off of, other cars.

Knowing exactly when and where you were hit makes for valuable info when fighting a ticket. Indeed, a laser detector is very valuable...

STI-R is discontinued but was a wonderful remote mount. As for laser jammer its Laser Interceptor all the way right now. All kinds of tests have been done that confirm this fact....

Incorrect. Laser doesn't scatter any where close to being detectable enough to give you warning. That's why cops aim at retroreflective materials (license plates/headlights). It's also why laser can't be used in the rain or thru windows (refraction). It must be handheld & aimed.

BS. Laser beams get wider at further distances, at as much as 3-4 feet wide for every 1000 feet. If someone in front of you gets tabbed from 1/4 mile away, that cop better be DEAD ON or else part of that beam misses the car. And the V1 will get that. I have personally seen my V1 go off on several different occasions and someone in front of me get pulled over. FACT.

That part I'm not sure, it's not an issue in Texas.

Yes, I'm aware of the beam size enlarging, but hey, if yours detects it, go for it.

    Enjoy detecting laser.
