    Oil pressure sender #4!

Yup, scared the CRAP out of me (again).

Been driving the V like it was a two stroke (WHOO HOO!) and a friend of mine and I go to lunch.

Go to leave and alarms go off and I get a "SHUT ENGINE OFF /NO OIL PRESSURE" warning.

No knocking or other horrible sounds except for my swearing that I bet it is the oil pressure sensor (again).

    It was.

I pop those things like corn, and It never fails to scare the crap out of me when they go (but at least it isn't the motor!).

I can actually replace the thing by feel, so I don't have to remove the facia or anything.

Heavy, of course you do know why this scares the crap out of you, don't you? It's because you're used to going through Mod Hell, and you think you're on your way there again.

Glad to hear it's only the sensor (again).

So how do you know it's the sensor? Is there a way to check, or did you just get her towed home and change it?
Been meaning to ask you about this cuz my oil pressure might be lower than usual. Hope I put the right oil in

The oil pressure "came up" and the engine wasn't knocking or doing anything funny.

I am getting real good at replacing these things.

That's weird. My car has almost 99k and I think the sensor is original. Seems fine.

I've had a theory before that the OEM part is of better quality than the replacement part, even though it is supposedly OE. So when the actual OE part dies, you start a chain of poorer-quality replacement parts. I guess that would be easy to figure out. Are people either on their original or 3rd or 4th sensor?

Mine has been out for way too long now. It periodically goes off again and as always scares the ish out of me. I just roll the windows down and turn the radio up. Now that the Maggie is off I plan on replacing it while it is easy to get to. Any pics of exactly hat I am looking for to do this? Any place sell them cheap or should I just go order one for GM? A few months ago I got a knock sensor light after the engine got wet but it went away. Sine I am looking at them everytime i alk in the garage I wonder if it would be worth changing now, but all that silicone looks like a PITA to mess with.

Since the Maggie is in Ventura I plan on replacing mine while I have easy access. It is the plug that sticks straight up on the back side of the block valley on the drivers side right? I plled the cable off to have a look, any special way to get it out of the block or is it just twist out?

Heavy, I still get that message from time to time as well and it doesn't feel good at all. Especially the first time I got it after getting my new motor installed! When that happened, I brought the car back to my mechanic and he installed a mechanical pressure gauge. Now when I get the message, I just look at the gauge and know that all is well. I was going to just replace the faulty sensor but then I saw how many sensors you and others went through.
