Ouch, that doesn't sound too fun. The trunk on the V does free-fall pretty easily. The trunk caught my arm a while back when a gust of wind hit it; can't imagine getting hit in the head by the trunk.

Re: Got nailed by my trunk lid for the last time(s)

When I ordered my OEM lip spoiler, it came with a pair of higher rated struts to hold up the additional weight. I put them on first, before installing the spoiler and they made a huge difference. With the new struts the trunk would open by it self from any position from 6" open and up.

Let me know if you guys want the part number off of them, I would assume that any dealer could order them separately from the spoiler.

Got tired of my trunk lid dropping like a rock also and had new lift springs/shocks (?) installed by the dealer when they replaced the diff bushing. Now I have to hold the trunk lid to keep it from going up to fast and it has to be pulled all the way down.

In the first post, less then $50 for a pair shipped.

This happened in the driveway of a friend of mine who has a CTS.

He gave me the part # and his trunk lid works correctly.

Definatley had this happen a few times (over the years not three in one day). It seems to happen more in the cold.

    Yup.

Cold weather and what angle you park at.

I had the "double whammy" cold and on a sloped driveway.

    OUCH!!!
