I was outside yesterday when he came out so we talked for a minute. He said he had his SRX back to the dealer for a little work so he was looking around in the showroom and spotted 2 new CTS' in there. He said one was stickered $51k and the other was stickered $71k. He couldn't understand why the new model was $30k more than the one he bought 3 years ago. So I had to explain to him about the LSA engine, supercharger, advanced suspension, etc. I've previously explained to him about the V8 in my V, but I don't think he fully understands what the V is. |

I always get "did you put that body kit on". Or is that a different grill or something? It is just easiest to say it is the cts-V and has the corvette motor in it. Most people have no clue... |

Their eyes get big, and they say things like, "Wow!" I have my 17 year-old daughter pop the hood when someone asks her about mine. It seems to really impress the guys. Maybe that's not such a good thing.... |

I traded my red RX-8 in on the V. My daughter used to drive that quite a bit, also. She's a natural with a stickshift. My biggest concern was always that she might scuff the wheels, but I think all my warnings sunk in. My dad used to have cool cars until he had a family, then we got boring stuff.
See, I was right about impressing the guys, at least all my friends on the forum!! |

| I can relate to that. I had a Dodge Charger and 5 different Corvettes, then I got married and got an old Datsun pickup. |

By the time I was out of college, Mom and Dad had lowered themselves to a Ford Escort and a Pontiac J-car (like a Chevy Cavalier. Sunbird, maybe?). By the time I had to take Mom's keys away, she had an '89 Ford Tempo which Dad had bought when he was alive. In 15 years it had only about 30,000 miles, but it was a rusty piece of junk. It didn't halp things that Mom was a terrible driver and was always backing into things, sideswiping the house, and scraping it up. It had automatic shoulder belts that came around and nearly strangled you when you got in. My wife couldn't stand the thing. I thought about having one of my daughters use it, but I'm ashamed to admit I was just too embarrassed to allow it.
My wife has a large sport utility she uses for work, so we're able to carry stuff when needed. My younger daughter has a smaller one to drive to school, but I wanted her to remember driving some really fun cars as she recalls her times growing up! I doubt she'll ever think dad is actually "cool," but maybe just in this one little way.... | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
