Ok...these tires are costing too much every few thousand miles. Can someone please tell me what I need to tell my guys at the alignment shop to keep from wearing the inside tread down to nothing every 2-3 months?

depends on what shocks you have. if u cant tell the difference take a picture of the sticker on your shocks and post up here. these guys can look at it and tell you which ones.

The way I read the FAQ information it says that the specifications are for FE2, FE3, and FE4; and is also applicable to FG2s. Most (perhaps all) Vs had either FE4s or FG2s on them when first delivered. These shocks have identical outside dimensions (body diameter, rod diameter, length when compressed, and length when extended) so it would make sense for the alignment specs to be them same.

Bottom line is, unless you have FE5s (unlikely) or aftermarket shocks the FAQs specs should be fine.

Re: Stupid tires

your V will be FE4 or FG2 -same alignment.

There's two things you can do:

Have the shop custom align it w/ less agressive stance, but you will lose handling ability.

Or...do like I did and have the tires pulled OFF the wheels and swapped to the other side putting the "worn" inner ring of the tire on the outside, spinning in the same direction obviously. I did this at 10k after a 5k front to back rotation and will get 25k out of my toyos in total. The GYs and more aggressive tires may need this at 5k. So, that means you'll be doing a $50-$75 "rotation" often.

Re: Stupid tires

I don't track the v so losing a little handling ability shouldn't hurt too much...i appreciate all the suggestions...

just a thought, don't know how the measurements/figures would convert, but I've seen several 03/04 Cobras on the lift and for an IRS they handle well and don't tilt in like our Vs. Of course, the GTOs have IRS and don't tilt in but don't handle very well either. Just work with a good alignment shop and I'm sure you can come up w/ a good balance.

Re: Stupid tires

I've heard of this issue before with earlier CTS's. Not sure if a solution was ever found. Just take it to an alignment shop and get a free alignment check to see where you are currently at.
