LS2 vs. LS6 Engine Scroll down this thread:
http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4598
to find a very interesting chart comparing the hp and torque of the LS6 (currently in the CTS-V) with that of the LS2.
The LS2 is being added to the Pontiac GTO for the 2005 model year. Wonder why GM didn't do the same thing for the CTS-V, as the LS2 seems to be clearly superior to the LS6 (particularly in its torque curve).

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
I've been hearing that the V will receive the LS2 in it's 2006 model year (plus something a bit more
).

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
Its got a little more low end and peaks at 400ftlbs. I don't think it will be much quicker than the LS6 though. The V NEEDS at least 450hp.

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
If the V had 450 youd be saying it needs 500

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
It has to compete with the M5 which is going to have 500hp, but I would be happy if it keeps up with a standard Vette, and I think with the weight disadvantage, 450 hp would do it.

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
I don't think the V needs 500hp to keep pace with the new M5. With about 200 less pounds to tow around and already having more torque than the new M5, I would guess just getting to 450hp with an accompanying boost in torque would very easily have us saying buh-bye.

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
The LS6 is a positive wouldn't you say? With low production in both the Z06 and CTS-V and the last "350" cubic inch engine from GM, it will probably have a little bit more of collector appeal in 30 years. In 2005, the last, great LS6 power only comes in a V.

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
i think i heard somewhere that they basically stopped after 6000rpm to keep the ls6 owners happy (eventhough it shows 6000+rpm on the dyno graph).

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
I never said it had to have 500 to keep up with the M5, I'd say 475 to keep up, maybe slightly better it, but like I said, I would be happy with standard vette power in a V and that number is 450hp, 475 would give me a stiffy though.

Re: LS2 vs. LS6 Engine
Because supercharging the car would put the car in the $60k+ range. Out of reach for me.
