DSS AXLE INSTALLED ONE SIDE ONLY - Video - Page 4

So If I install one 06-07 axle on my 04 I could possibly eliminate a good portion of the wheel hop? Or is the hollow construction and twisting still going to cause the hop. Has anyone tried swapping axles between the years with other members?

It has been tried and it did not work. (I have an 06-07 set, for sale, and already boxed for shipping if you want to try it yourself).

one person tried it and didnt notice improvement. i am willing to try it again.

anything is possible solution to any particular car.. its possible for dss axles to not be a wheel hop fix for any particular car. it happens.

Thanks good info, As for pricing Hendrix's website only shows the gto axles at 2,198 (2) as they dont list the ctsv , Are they the same price for the V as well? And are the race CV's additional to this? With all the attention lately on this board over these I dont understand why the product is not even on the site???

You may be right - and anything is possible. But after 5 years of dealing with various possibilities a number of us are only interested in what works now.

I don't know what the deal is on the website but Hendrix has been doing promotional pricing that has changed over the time.

I would PM or call him to get the current pricing - the sooner the better, I suspect.

Has anyone tried adding some mass to one side of the stock axles? I'm I crazy to think that might also work? Maybe two halves of a metal tube slipped over the axle and spot/tack welded together?

I believe Hendrix was offering the promotional price until July 1st. I'm sure the plan was to get several sets out there for testing purposes and to raise interest, that time may be over now...

I had asked the same question in another thread and received a negative response from the engineers among us.

It turns out that is is not a matter of a weight differential between the two axles, it is rather a difference in their relative "torsional" or "twisting" characteristics. GM's words regarding the V2 were as follows:

"To eliminate hop, the strengthened shafts are asymmetrical-a hollow 55-mm unit on the driver's side and a solid 35-mm shaft on the passenger's side-to de-couple the wind-up and release forces."

We have a dozen or so products thats not on theweb site,unfourtunitly i cant do the web site and my desighner is sslllooww..lol..The race cvs are extra,the curret prce for the standard is $1699 $1799 for the race cvs these will be going up for the next run we do.I think we have 5 sets left at this price.Let us know if we can help.

Just wanted to give everyone an update on my "damaged" CV. I got the repaired smaller axle back quickly thanks to Thomas. I installed it yesterday and it was still popping a bit while rotating it in the air. Many mentioned this could be due to the angle or to the grease not being broken into the cv just yet. So i kept on with the install and once i put the wheel on and lowered it the popping stopped and all is well. Looking back there may not have been anything wrong with it to begin with, but i didnt want to drive on it if the popping was something serious.

To any other people installing, if it's binding/popping a bit, go ahead and finish it up and once you put it back on the ground it will likely stop. Thanks for helping me out Thomas, axle got to DSS Thursday and shipped out Friday!

Mine "sort of popped" befire I had it on the ground as well. When you turned one of the tires, it would go almost 360 degrees and then it would almost bind. if you went backwards a little bit, then forwards it wouldn't do it. So I babied it at first, but it was all good once it was on the ground.
