I must say that although this makes no sense, the car feels faster now! Maybe its a combination of the new diff fluid (man there were some chunks in there!), the axles, and a freshly tightened rear suspension; but the car seems to pick up faster and the steering feels tighter. When i went to remove the drivers side hub, i had my 18" breaker bar with a 24" pipe over it and was ready for battle. I get ready to turn it and the damn thing comes loose with little to no effort. This was definitely not the case for the passenger side, but man that's concerning how it got so loose. As far as i know the hubs have never been pulled off the car, so i wonder if it just worked its way loose? Either way glad it's fixed now, may be worth a $14 34mm socket to ya to check yours!

lol sounds good. The hotter it gets and the more I drive the LS7 pressure plate just keeps getting a little worse every day.

If I read the earlier part of this thread correctly , The 04 has thinner axles than other year V's and this is why a single axle install on kmajecki's car had good results?

Both the 2004 & 2005 V had 1 1/4 inch diameter, hollow axles. There were reports of these breaking. There were also magazine reports that the GM engineers had orignally specified larger axles that did not make it into production.

The 2006 & 2007 Vs came with 1 1/2 inch diameter hollow axles that are presumably sufficient to hold the OEM horsepower.

The biggest axle was installed,its 1 3/8s the stock axle will not live long now that the new axle is not twisting ,how long and what it would tear up is anyones guess.

I must've forgotten that. Would at least partially explain why the stock axles felt so much lighter than the H-E axles.

And I think it also reasonable to assume that the only reason there were not a lot more reports of the earlier hollow axles breaking was that the wheel hop problem prevented most V owners from testing those axles with any frequency.

This aii makes sense to me! No more burnouts untill the 2nd solid axles is in!
