So brought the V in to the dealership yesterday to get the clutch bleed. I was having a hard time shifting into reverse and going into gear some times. They call an hour later saying it needs a slave cylinder, master cylinder, and new clutch plates. $1,500. So needless to say I might as well upgrade to the ls7 clutch or and aftermarket one. Does anyone know of a good aftermarket one? Also does anyone have a master cylinder or slave cylinder for sale?
Thanks, Tom |

My theory with my car is, as it wears out or breaks, build it better and stronger.
Sorry to hear about your problems. Luke or someone will have what you are looking for. |

I'd do the slave and the ls7 clutch and you can obtain everything from luke for like 6 or 700 bucks including a new slave.

call their bluff and go look at it. not saying they are lying by any means but i wouldnt think you went from "tough shifting" to a shot clutch in 1 hr... |

I wouldn't trust that dealer to flush it after they told you it needed a completely new system. Flush it yourself, it's not that hard. |

Is the ls7 a direct replacement? What is better about he ls7 clutch? |

Everything is better about the LS7. Its lighter so the car will rev much faster, it clamps better so if you plan on upgrading the engine its nice to have something that will stick with a lot of power. |

If their $1500 price tag includes parts and labor, I wouldn't complain about the cost one bit. If you're gonna have it done I wouldn't hesitate to do the LS7 clutch package for the one piece fly wheel (faster reving) and better holding power...not that mine has ever slipped running stock power and 50K miles (-: |

forgot to mention I had mine in at 39K for same symptoms and nothing was wrong in their opinion. shifted fine, didnt need flushing, clutch fine, no leaks (somehow the fluid just goes poof) yada yada. but, im under warranty. not sure if there is a difference in total profit for warrranty vs street work.
I'll probably do the ls7 as well, when necessary but I'd like to ride mine as long as it is good to me. Seems like lots of guys here have upgraded before d-day for performance reasons. |
