Clay bar is great for removing the small rust spots oh the side of the car caused by the brake dust.
What do you guys use for the wheels? I have one wheel that the paint is chipping and I was wondering if was the cleaner, poor wheel finish, or both. I've been using the Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner. |

-Griots wash pad
-Grots MF dry towel
-First wash with gold class car soap then 2nd wash with blue dawn to strip old wax off
-Meguiars CLAY BAR<-- most important step, seriously
-meguiars scratch remover X - very impressed with this stuff but don't get terribly aggressivle cause it will move the paint
-Meguiars Step 2 Polish - essential for black cars.. Really deepens the color... Don't let it dry!
-Meguiars step 3 carnuba - 2 coats... wait for it to dry before removing
I'm 8 hours in and probably have 6 to go... yes, I need an orbital buffer! |

You are right down the road from me (toll road), once you are all done, if you feel like doing a second car, I would happily let you detail mine
On a more serious note, you know any decent detailer in our area?

Dawn wash
Griots Claybar with SpeedShine
Griots Machine Polish #3 with
Griots Orbital
Still have about half the car to polish since it had a TON of swirl and still wax the whole thing with either Griots Best in Show, Mequires Gold, NTX or Mothers Carnuba. I have them all in the garage but undecided which to use right now.
Also need to polish the windshield and headlights and detail interior and engine bay.
Got dinner plans tonight so I will probably finish it tomorrow. |

Im just not using a really strong polish so some of the deeper marks are still visable but the wax should cover up most of that. I also have quite a few rock nicks in the hood and nose piece that I need to touch up. |

I have a bunch of winter crap, hardened brake dust that is a royal pain to remove. Need something industrial strength.
