Sweet! My future filters will be K&N, I don't care how much they cost. Changing the filter with headers is a PITA. |

It will be interesting to see what they find. Wal Mart oil changes? I know they use those shitty Fram filters. God luck man. |

I figured I couldn't go wrong with A/C delco in a GM car. Only used it twice, but its in the car now. |

If they were so terrible, there wouldn't be tens of millions of cars rolling around the US with Fram filters. Pretty much every auto parts store you go into has a larger section of Fram filters than anything else - those parts chains wouldn't stock so much Fram stuff if they didn't sell. That's just basic supply and demand.
And AFAIK there's no "Don't use Fram" clause in our warranty.
Anyway, definitely hope that GM comes through for you based on good faith. As others have already said, be courteous but persistent, and if you don't get the resolution you want at the local level, keep going up the chain of command.

Big hole in the block and oil pan. I contacted caddy service. Nice lady in New Foundland open a case for me. She put me on hold and tried to contact the dealer, but got an answering machine. She says the district case manager will get back to me in 24 hrs. She stated that while my warranty was over 11 mos. ago, my mileage warranty of 50k was only exceeded by 240 miles. Both the dealer and caddy service indicated that I may likely get some 'assistance' on the quoted $6.5k repair bill.
She asked several questions such as;
Has this dealer maintained your car? I told her they did warranty work, but I did all oil changes.
Did you own the car since new? Yes.
Where did you buy the car?
How many other GM vehicles have you owned? 7
Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where this line of questioning is going.
Conversations between the dealer service advisor, caddy service lady, and I, have all so far been very amicable. I will keep my silver tongued devil demeanor going. |

DO NOT BUY A GM MOTOR IF YOU ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AS MANY GREAT DEALS ON STROKERS TO BE HAD IN THIS ECONOMY! |

I've already lined up a regional GM VIP to contact. One of those sibling of a friend things. Wouldn't it be great if GM would just say, here's a few grand for your troubles, use it as you see fit....which I would use on that stroker motor several forum members suggested. Yeah, right. Dream on.
I'm not keen at all with any dealer doing heart surgery on my ride. I'd rather do it myself. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
