I just bought my first 2005 "V" and I am correcting all of the little things that need fixing, i.e. radio knobs and buttons, updating Navi system, ordering mats & touch up paint, programming the Home Link & personal settings. I have found all of this information and vendors on this forum, which is great.
Now I am trying to find something to clean my Navi screen. It looks to have some type of coating on it with some light scratches or marks on it. I am hoping there is a cleaner that will eliminate most of this. Can anyone tell me what they are using?
Thanks |

I really don't know what could be on the screen; it looks like some sort of coating applied by the factory? In the sun it is distracting, at night, not so much. I am hesitant to use just anything on the screen, as they can be sensitive to a lot of cleaners. One thing I do know, the "clean thumb" does not work, that was my first attempt also.
I want to again thank this forum for being a really great asset to anyone looking to learn, maintain, improve, and most of all, enjoy their CTS-V. So far I have ordered “V logo” mats, navigation software upgrades and DVD’s, touch up paint, and custom radio knobs from the vendors listed here. I have also learned a lot about the common quirks and fixes associated with this model. I have owned many high performance cars in the past, and a forum like this would have greatly enhanced the ownership experience. |

I used the Monster screen cleaner for flat panel monitors. Its a little pricey, but its pretty amazing stuff. Use it on my laptop and TV as well. Little goes a long way, and the version I bought at a computer store had an extra micro fiber clothe that I keep in the car to clean up dust as necessary.

| Thanks, I will locate some and try it. It sounds like it will do the trick. After I get it cleaned up I will try Mike's suggestion for a screen protector. |

However, for splattered-on schmutz (reference the DVD comment earlier), spray the cloth with isopropyl alcohol first. DON'T SPRAY THE SCREEN. You can use diluted alcohol down to 50/50, or a vinegar/water mix. Make sure to use distilled water (get it at a drug store) so you don't leave any tap water residue.
Source--search the internet for laptop screen cleaning. The V's nav screen, since it isn't touch, has the same anti-glare coating.

Works great on plastic.
