Clutch Position Sensor

Remove this ad
Hey everyone. About a week ago, i threw a CEL. Right before that, the cruise control stopped working. I hooked up an obd-II reader, and it showed something for the clutch position sensor.

I cleared the code and it stayed off for a few days, however, the cruise control did not work and it recently came back. This leads me to believe i definitely need a new clutch position sensor (the cruise control not working makes sense, as it ties into this sensor)

Where can I find one of these sensors, and how hard are they to replace?

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Re: Clutch Position Sensor

Call Luke at Lindsay and he can get you a new switch. Then search this site for clutch switch and you will find a post with a .PDF that details the replacement procedure. I tried to include the link but was unable... I'm still to much of a newb.

The replacement is a royal pain in the ass. The sensor rides on the rod of the master cylinder and it is not replaceable by itself. You will have to replace the whole master cylinder. It is buried up in the dash and the only way to replace it is removing the brake master, which requires a special tool then crawling up under the dash. If you are not an advanced wrench I would highly recommend having it professionally replaced. Good luck

Re: Clutch Position Sensor

Here is the thread with the PDF instructions.

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ode-p0833.html

Rock Auto sells the part - not very expensive.

My reading of the PDF (in the above thread) as well as the Service Manual indicates this is a relatively easy replacement. The switch is located under a panel that is underneath the steering wheel and held by three screws and an electrical connector.
