I Just got this e-mail from a Guy Who was looking at My Door Lock Pulls on E-bay
I told him I would forward it to you Guys !!! I know from some of the other Threads that some of you have tried different painting techniques. I just Thought I would pass this one along too. Which Brings me to my next subject. I will Give Away A Free!!!! set of (2) Radio Knobs of your choice to anyone who can send me some Radio/Nav Buttons in decent condition. I don't care if their paint is chipped I want to use them for measuring and prototyping. PM me here on the Forum for a shipping address. If you have any we need to talk lol.

Hello Peter,

If you are the one who posted the pulls on Ebay, I have sent a previous email. As mentioned I am interested in both. I am assuming all the knobs produced are black, pulls silver? Great idea for black knobs, by the way. Keep me posted.

As for a fix for the Nav buttons, you may want to tell the members to apply poly clear used on hardwood floors, satin finish. I used an artist brush and coated each button and works great. It is important to have a good medium, wet coat. Too thin will show brush strokes as the material cannot self level. Watch for drips. For beginners, maybe taking the radio out and lay it on a table for a flat application. Before clear coating, I used black spray paint to touch up the buttons. I chosed to used spray paint as it is very thin and brush strokes would not show. Simply spray the paint into the cap, to capture the paint, and apply with an artist brush. This will work only if the paint is in the beginning stages of pealing. Too much spray paint may cause an adhesion problem w/clear. I would post this myself, but the forum will not accept my ISP email account to sign up. As for the clear product used, Lowes or HD sells this stuff in the paint department, a waterbase Poly clear to refinish hardwood floors, Pro by Parks (personally I like Bona, but are only sold in the professional supply store)

Peter......I just tried to reply to your PM but apparently I have not been a member long enough to "qualify" for that capability. I would like both the AC knobs as well as the radio knobs (in black) with the emblems. As I'm sure many others are I anxiously await the availability of the replacement DVD/NAV butttons in black as well. Let me know by a standard email to the aforementioned address how to make the arrangements.....Mike

I have not done any Door lock Pulls in Black yet. I put aside a few sets to do in Black when the radio knobs are done. PM me if you want to get on the (Black List)

OK, please add me to the black logo knob list - I think the install pictures may be the clincher . . . have silver logo knobs; pretty sure that I want to trade them for black, maybe the vent pulls too if you end up making those in black as well . . . but, happy keeping door lock pulls silver (matches rest of door hardware better) . . . much thanks
