I see a nice set on ebay for $1,800... for those that have them, is this where you got them & approx what you paid? I've heard several times that chrome plated aluminum wheels inevitably end up flaking regardless of plating or maintaining them. How well are some of your wheels holding up? I had a set of chrome SS wheels on my Camaro that the chrome flaked off despite barely driving and always keeping them clean, just don't want to go through that again. Thanks. |

Thanks. | I bought a set from a guy that used to have a V and traded it for a Z06 before the new stock wheels got back from the chrome shop. Short story is all 4 wheels had to be replaced (thrown away) in two years because they started corroding in the bead and would not hold air. I sent my original stock wheels in to get chromed at a place that does great work, the new chrom wheels are great.
What I'm trying to say is the process is important.
By the way $1800 is what I paid for new wheels that were chromed plus they had a complete of tire pressure sensors. |

Hoping for a bit more feedback from others on how well these chromed wheels are holding up. I had the same problem with my SS chrome wheels corroding at the beads and causing leaks. The tire shop would dismount the tire, clean up the corrosion and remount them for me, but they said it was a common problem with chromed aluminum wheels. |

Put over 70,000 miles on them. They were very similar to the stock CTS-V wheels, made by the same Itialian company. I think it has to do with the preparation.
Hope the chrome I have now lasts... |

I bought mine with chromed stockers and have put nearly 40,000 miles on them since then (72k total). I did have 1 tire that would not hold air but after SEVERAL attempts by multiple places it is now good to go. I have a bit of corrosion on mine but most seems to come off with a little elbow grease and some Griots wheel cleaner. |

I have 2 sets of chrome accessory wheels and the finish is flaking off both...neither set has more than 40K miles on them...in the process of refinishing one set to a charcoal grey metallic. |

Mine are polished aluminum, and its the clear coat that's deteriorating... Oh well I guess I just have to get them powdercoated black...
