If you get the right package, you'll be almost exactly where MauiV is at as far as HP and torque numbers. If you're on a budget, maggie is the way to go. The final bill was somewhere about $11,000 - $13,000 for heads, cam, internal motor upgrades for reliability, CAI, headers, exhaust, LS7 clutch and flywheel, tuning and installation. |

Staying with the Maggie since it achieves the power you want whereas the ProCharger might be overkill, it's less intrusive than a cam et al as far as altering the motor (you only replace the intake manifold), it's on tap ANYTIME you want it without regard to what's left in the bottle, it's proven to stay within the constraints of the stock motor internals, it's readily available in kit form, it retains excellent driveability as a DD, it's easily reversible, guys are still getting warrantly work done by a lot of dealers (though maybe not all), and it might be JUST within your budget, though it's close. It does overshoot your desired power level significantly especially when coupled with LT headers.
Also, as suggested above, see if you can drive a V setup with a bottle, one with a good cam setup, and a maggie before you take the plunge, do it. | 1 word for ya. Heat. Soak.

My 437/431 numbers came with a IAT of 190 on the 6th pull of the morning. The tune pulls timing when the heat gets up there so I am interested to see what I could pull in weather like today. |

If you get a Maggie installed, they have to remove the crank pulley. Might as well put in a bigger pulley. It'll give some more hp, but a lot more torque (30-40?).
In SoCal, you'll need a meth kit to keep the heat soak. In check. Sould only be a few hundred dollars.
With labor+tune, you should be under your budget. Down the road you can install headers. At that point, you should be real close to 500rwhp. Probably over 600hp at the crank.

The one thing the OP has going for him, that some of us don't is he has an LS2 based V. This gives him the option of using much less expensive heads and getting great results if he goes heads and cam, due to the 4" bore of the LS2.
A nice L92/L76 heads intake package will meet or beat a much more expensive Premium Gen III head (i.e. AFR 205's TrickFlow's etc.) / FAST 92 setup IF the right cam is chosen.
Here is a heads kit, with most of the bits you'd need: http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=12292
You' dhave to pair that with the right cam, and accessories (I.E. headers, etc.) to meet your goals, but you could get very close @ about 8k budget installed.

The L76 heads are actually some of the first iterations of the LS7 heads. They flow almost as good as aftermarket P&P ones in raw cast form. I ended up going with P&P 243 stock castings because at the time people were just starting to use the L76/L92 setup and I wanted something proven. |

So would I be better off going with the L92/L76 setup (for the money) over a trickflow 225 head on my truck motor. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
