Shift Knob Options?

Remove this ad
I've been reading up on the short throw shifters and think I am going to go with the Katech, but can't seem to find anything in terms of shift knobs I like.

On my previous vehicle ('96 Z28), I had an SLP knob and loved it! I really wish I could find a similar design knob for the V, but can't seem to find anything other than a round ball or a cylinder.

Anyone know where I can get a knob like this for the V? I know the Katech shifter has a thread of 5/8" - 18, but not sure what the SLP pitch is. I suppose I'll give them a call and try to find out.

Re: Shift Knob Options?

I just called SLP, and this knob (http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...16&BIG=10416-1) has a nylon insert with a thread of 16mm fine. Being that 16mm and 5/8" are pretty much the same, I assume the diameter will work. And since the Katech shifter is 18 thread pitch (being a fine pitch) and the knob uses a nylon insert, I think this just might work.

Any thoughts?

Thomas.

If the threads per whatever match up it will work with 5/8 and 16mm, you could even add in a layer of teflon tape to get it closer. If the TPI doesn't match up at least you can get it on once

I checked around and went this way ...

Don't know if it'll fit a Katch, though.

Re: Shift Knob Options?

I got the Holden knob and boot. Like the looks initially but the feel and weight of the knob is great.
