Is there some esoteric, super-secret oil filter I'm suppose to be using that I've never heard about? | haha esoteric is a great word. |

Page 5-107 says: Engine Oil with Filter is 6.0 quarts. | In a former life, I worked at an auto repair shop and one of the guys use to take the empty quarts of oil and turn then upside down to drain the residual oil left in the bottle out. He would get a full quart after so many "empty" bottles.
Maybe it is 6 quarts with a factory filter, and the extra 1/4-1/2 quart people are adding is due to the oil which sticks to the inside of the bottles and to the funnel?

Thomas. | I warm my oil up, if it's been in the cold garage, by placing it indoors for a few hours. Then, when I pour it into the motor, I let it sit upsidedown in the funnel for a minute or so.
I agree with what you're saying about the oil's tendency to adhere (<-- how 'bout that one, p0ng0rs?) to the inside walls of the container. But, I can't imagine I'm wasting more than a tablespoon or two at most.
I am, however, going to scout out some AC Delco oil filters from now on. The internet is so influential, isn't it? |
