Transmission issues

Remove this ad
Not sure if this particular case has been discussed yet.

Recently (a few weeks), I'm getting noticeable shaking/vibration when shifting from 1st to 2nd at high rpm (3k+). Not necessarily when accelerating hard. It seems to be quite consistent now and on occasion it's quite a violent shake (no rattling).

It happens not when the clutch is being depressed but when I'm physically moving the shifter from 1st to 2nd (best I can pinpoint) with the clutch fully down.

Not having issues getting into gear (over and above what is normal).

Could this be the diff bushing acting up?

Motor mounts look fine.

Opinions?

Re: Transmission issues

Master/Slave issue not disengaging the pressure plate 100%?

Re: Transmission issues

Good suggestions. The dealer did replace the slave recently so perhaps you're onto something.

Re: Transmission issues

If they didn't bleed it right that could be a problem.. or if it's just faulty parts.. I've seen bad parts come out of a brand new box too many times for comfort.. try diagnosing a problem when you replace a faulty master with a brand spankin new.. faulty.. master. then replace the slave.. then rebleed 4 times.. then mess with the clutch pedal assembly.. throw a bunch of things around in a fit of rage, and replace the master/slave/lines from a working car to find it works.. and reverse-engineer what happened down to the new master being also bad. ;(

Dear god that does sound like endless fun worthy of a ticket booth and admission price.

I'll let the dealer take it apart and figure it out (was looking to for suggestions to guide them) whilst I surreptitiously slip in a UUC flywheel when they're not looking....

Re: Transmission issues

Update, dealer couldn't figure it out on a visual inspection. Fluid looked fine. Tranny mount looks fine. Any other suggestions I can throw at them? (Bringing it back to the dealer next Monday).

Re: Transmission issues

Does it do it if you don't move the shifter? i.e. If you run it up to 4000 rpms, push in the clutch and just coast while the rpms drop.
