Cadillac Forums: I think I have made a cam decision...finally
Thanks to all who gave me input.. especially Trukk.
Well I guess after football season, when the TIDE get gone rolling the country, when I can actually afford to have the car down and not be dumping money on tickets and hotels and nonsense I will get the car into Vengeance racing in ATL.
I was not sure wether to go with a more docile cam, the VRX3 @ 226/228 .585/.588 114 LSA but with much deliberation I think I have arrived at a decision..
Vengeance Racing VRX4 228/230 .588/.592 112 LSA 389.00
Patriot Gold 'Extreme' Dual springs 255.00
Comp Hardened Rods(7.4 stock length) 115.00
Cloyes Gear 9-3153A HP Hex-A-Just True Roller Set 169.00
total 928.00
Hope all goes well
I think this is the route I will be taking next year, look foward to how it all goes, heard nothing but positive about Vengence.
If you don't mind I'm interested in how much this will cost installed.
Thanks
While they're down there you might as well get them to put on an underdrive pulley and a new timing chain.
I assume you have no plans for FI in the future, so you made a good choice on the cam.
EDIT: I forgot, you might need bigger injectors. Vengeance will tell you if you need them.
exactly, no plans on F/I..
The timing chain is being replaced, its the Cloyes adjustable gear... I took a page out of Trukks book, he used it in his install. Its a little more than a Katech chain, but I think its worth it.

Thanks for the props
You really only need to get a hex adjust if you think Ron @ Vengence might advance or retard your cam. I'd talk to him about it and see. I went that route since I was getting a custom ground cam, and wasn't sure what the 'real' specs would be untill I got it, thus I wanted that safety net. If Ron doesn't think he'll do that, then I'd go with the KaTech.
I also used 7.425" pushrods, FWIW, because I have an LS6. Check with Ron on this, and make sure you tell him you have an LS6, and not a LS1/2.
Make sure you do a nice write-up, with pics, vids, before and after dyno's, etc. You are going to love having a cam, and it REALLY turns heads.

Any explanation on this... ?
I dont really completely understand the benefits of using slightly longer rods and why on the LS6?
Is this cam good for a Daily Driver? Or does it lobe like crazy

That cam is pretty close to the onle I have. I daily drive my cam, and it's fine for me. HOWEVER one man's lope, is another mans rumble, and is another mans grumble.
Best thing is to find a local cammed car, and get a ride. It doesn;t have to be a V, it could be an F-Body, or a vette.
The loping at idle can be minimized for a daily driver. I DD mine and when I feel like loping, I make it lope so the car shakes your head side to side at an idle of about 800 rpm. When I don't feel like making it lope, I change the tune to make it not lope so much and the car has a fairly smooth idle at about 850, almost stock but not quite.
