    First Oil Change is Done

This is why one should change their oil early in the life of their V...

Look what I found when I dropped the oil right away tonight while it was still hot from today's long trip....lots o' metal (not Motley Crue) stuck to the magnetic drain plug with 364 miles on the odometer.

All cleaned up and ready to go back in the pan.

Pic showing the longer than stock, K&N HP-2006 filter - no problems hanging down too low...

The V had the first GM factory installed filter I've ever removed that wasn't practically welded on to the engine with too much torque.

Looks like a duplicate of what I found at 500 miles. It's time for another now at 1000 miles and I'm curious to see what awaits me this time.

Re: First Oil Change is Done

This issue was discussed a while ago I think on the Roadfly forum. As I recall all the Corvette guys had said that metal shavings is a no-cost additional feature on all of their cars, too.

I'm gonna wait till 1000 miles, which should be in a week (as soon as these &*%$#@ business trips end and let me get back to the important business of putting miles on the car).

Is that an "O" ring integrated right into the drain plug? I'll have to pay attention next time I change the oil in the Suburban to see if it has a similar plug....
