I need winter tires & rims; 18" preferred

Been looking all over the site and others to try and find an affordable set of winter tires and rims. Other than the track wheel option and potentially the new Rota's which aren't set in stone to be available yet, what can I buy?

18" and affordable is preferred.

I apologize up front for the thread, but every thread about rims gets into some 20" or 22" stuff that I have no desire to ever have. IMO changing rims should be for performance, and in particular in my case living in MN the winter performance of the stock setup doesn't work.

The tires are the easy part, but I am having a heck of a time finding rims. What do you guys use or have you seen that will work?

Maybe just buy tires and just have them mounted on your current rims when the seasons change?

Re: I need winter tires & rims; 18" preferred

Does that mean there are really no options?

I have thought about that, but considering I plan to keep the car for 3 more season changes. At $15 a tire * 4 at 2x a year, it is $360 in swaps plus the hassle and the fact that at the end you don't have anything. From a fiscal standpoint, I feel having an extra set of rims would pay for themselves plus there wouldn't be any extra wear and tear from mounting/remounting tires 2x a year. I figure if there were a set of rims for $200 each or less it would be a no brainer.

Check the classifieds & ebay. Stock rims are pretty much your only option besides Luke's track wheels at this point.

Re: I need winter tires & rims; 18" preferred

I know that Superior Cadillac near me in Kansas City has a spare set of stock OEM wheels (with summer tires though). I was in there for servicing last week and they were trying to sell them to me.

If you really need an extra set of rims/wheels its not that hard to find them. If you're looking for a "cheap" alternative to OEMs...well...you bought V!! Get used to it!

Re: I need winter tires & rims; 18" preferred

You have a pm. Thank you.

Since I am asking about wheel fitment, is there a reason that no one has used a bolt on hub adapter? I don't mean the ghetto-fabulous spacers with longer studs but an actual bolt on adapter that moves the hub out? Considering this seems such an issue I am curious to know why there isn't a board sponsor that makes adapters. Searching doesn't show one, although potentially I suck at the search function here. It seems to me that this would open the door for some other wheel fitments.
