    V1 Remote Display Installation

I was ready to install my remote display unit until I noticed the air bag in the front window post. Has anyone installed the remote unit and if so what precautions do you have to take to avoid setting off the air bag? Or is there another way to run the wire down to the ashtray?

I not only worry about setting off the airbag (I've removed many side/door panels on cars before without setting the enclosed airbags off) but then running wires that might impede in the airbag performance during deployment.

Thanks for the replies. However, I'm still looking for someone who has experience in this area. The install thread doesn't address the post/airbag issue. I've changed out steering wheels in the C5's and it is relatively simple but never like to venture into areas where problems could occur without some guidance. Anyone tried it with success?

    TNT V,

The air bag is actually behind that trim. To remove trim is very easy. The plastic (ABS) oval trim piece pops off and there is a 7MM screw behind it. Remove screw and the trim piece slides up. You can then run the wire with the factiry wires running down the pillar. You would really have to do something drastic to set off the air bag. I ran the wire for my remote display for SR7 like this.

    Re: V1 Remote Display Installation

My installation of the V-1 and remote display was real easy! I gave everything to my salesman at Voss and it was installed to my specifications when I picked up the car. $86 in labor. Works great. I have the unit installed to the right side of the rear view mirror, so sensor has clear view to rear, even with right visor down, but it cannot be seen from driver position. Remote is mounted below tach at 7:00 position, which I find easy to see at any time, or to reach if I want to kill the audio.
