224 cam $389
918 springs $180
Fast 92 $900
mezeire $625
asp balancer $225
Kooks headers $1225 shipped with catted Y. Do I want 3/4 or 7/8 and uncatted?
He is also selling BMR, Textrallia, Yella Terra and UMI parts. What else should I consider? Right now all I have is: K&N CAI, Corsa Catacks and( I think, funny story) a short throw shifter. Is any of the BMR stuff worth it?
Should I pull the trigger on these and just immerse myself in mod ?

Get uncatted if you can get away with it in your state.
I think you generally don't get the 7/8 unless you have FI or a lot more power than you do. Of course, there are more knowledgable people here that will explain all that.
EDIT: I just realized you said catted Y. I haven't read about anyone doing that but I haven't been around that long...

Should I pull the trigger on these and just immerse myself in mod ? | Without going back and scouring my reciepts, that looks about right. the Fast might be a tad high (although the 92 wasn't out when I got mine). You an LS2, and already have a 90mm TB? If not you need one of those too.
Unless you plan to up your displacement later, go with the 1.75" headers, else you loose TQ down low.
Cat;s is up to you. If you need em for local emissions testing then get them. if not, it's up to you. I kept mine, because I didn;t want that gas smell. However now with larger injectors, I get some of that smell anyway, so I might pull mine off, and go with the offroad lead pipes.
What lift is that cam? I went with dual springs, because I was paranoid about dropping a valve, with a somwhat higher lift.
Are you going to get new pushrods?
What about a new timing chain? If you have a low milage Ls2, you should be good, if not, I'd at least get a new LS2 chain (they are cheap), or step up to a nicer Katech or Cloyes timing chain, for that added security.
I did new rockers with mine, but they are probabaly overkill for most people.
I plan to ride my stock clutch till it dies, then swap it out. Probabaly with a textralia.
If you plan to do heads later, make sure you incquire about matching your cam to the heads you plan to get, else you might have to change cams then too.
You are gonna love running a cammed car

04 w/LS6. No emmisions testing here!!!
Not real sure what else I want/need to do. I am just ready for MORE.
Local guy suggests:
Vengence Racing Vindicator cam (which requires flycutting the pistons)
Trick Flow Heads
Kooks
Pulley
Ported Fast 92
and of course a good tune.
I saw his Dyno sheet for a LS6 Vette and it hit 820 with a 150 wet and 100 dry shot. He said he left his valves stock and didnt have the problems a lot of aftermarket uys were having.
Im torn between this and just saying fk it and getting the Maggie or ProCharger. |

Did he quote you an install on that stuff or are you planning on handling it yourself? I just went to a local corvette performance shop and I thought the prices were a little outrageous...he wanted 3800 dollars for new cams and associated valvetrain upgrades, install and tune or 8500 for cams and heads plus all the extras install and tune. For that kind of money I could get a maggie install it myself and then some

I have a couple of different options for installs. Some a buddyand I will do, some I can send to a former Cadi tech that does great work and at the right price and some to "pros". |

Ted,
Just keep in mind that with the heads and cam, you get what you pay for. Don't go balls-out HP wise, if you don't get the supporting mods, to carry you through, especially if this is your daily driver.
For example if I was gonna do a vindicator cam (which is very agressive), i'd definately get new Pushrods, lifters, beefy timing set (perhaps rockers), dual springs FOR SURE, perhaps a new oil pump depepnding on your miles (I did my cam install at 68k, so it was time for one, for piece of mind), quality gaskets and hardware, new injectors. If you are doing those too (top shelf shit), then it would be a shame not to do a Fast92/90 (non ported you are talking $1250 ish).....all that stuff adds up quick. Don't forget incidental like a good dyno tune, mod hell tax (you will have some issues with a big install, we all know that), installation, etc.
Set your expecations ahead of time, and know what you are getting yourself into. Take some time to read the hell out of the lS1TECH GenIII internals forum, so you are an informed consumer. Don't get talked into some stuff by a local tuner/installer, that pressures you because of some 'sale'. Knowledge is power here man, and it has the opportunity to save or cost you a ton of cash.

I dont want it to be obnoxious, just ridiculous. | LOL, that's kinda like asking "Do you like her @ss?" Some will, some won't. Best thing to do is to try and locate someone that has one and check it out. Ask the speed shop that you are working with, if someone has one, or a cam that is similar (like an MS3/MS4, TREX), and see for yourself.
My 224/228 cam makes a hell of a racket, and lopes a lot on a 111. I used to get the ocasional "I heard your car this morning" from the neighbors with Corsa and Kooks, the frequency has probabaly quadrupled in the last month, due to the cam. It is LOUD during cold start. Quote: |
