Ceramic cats have a honeycomb core pattern.
There are lots of cheap $60 ceramic cats out there that won't flow much better than stock and will either clog up or blow out on a High HP engine.
Might still be worth trying for the money.
Just wanted to point out it might not be comparable to the RT setup.

I want some more noise from my car and with a new baby coming this summer, getting headers is out of the question for the time being! |

I dont know the answer because he had my cats! Here is a copy of the email if anyone can help: Quote:

you recall what the receiving flange on the catback side looks like? Do you
recall if it uses a "flat" flange? Or something unique?
The reason for the question, is because we don't generally use that donut
style flange for systems and would have to source the part. But if the
catback exhaust side uses a flat flange, then it wouldn't matter.
I attached a picture for reference. I can snap shots of the test sections if
needed.
Also... any way of getting some pics of the stock units installed on a car?
I'm just curious of the clearance for the units.
Thanks,
Josh | If anyone has the photos he is looking for please PM me so I can get this ball rolling for you guys! |

I am on vacation in the Dominican Republic till Saturday. I emailed josh at trubendz with some info, and attached a picture I found online that might help clear up his questions. I will get him the pictures he wants when I get back.
If anybody could help sooner. Would you mind PMing or emailing me a picture of your stock cats installed so that he can have a good idea of what kind of clearance he has? Could you also email me a picture of the catback to stock cat connection? I have the stock catback, but it is at my house, and I am in the DR. I will have internet access till Friday, and will check it once every afternoon till then. |

The good news: I just got a pair of test pipes to check for fitment, and they fit great. I have emailed trubendz pictures of the pipe clearance so that they could see what kind of cat to use. These aren't the best looking, but they are a step in the right direction. An alternative high flow cat will be available soon.
These things make the car sound badass. The idle is not much louder, and it really sounds mean when I get on the gas. I have stock manifolds, non-catted test pipes, and a magnaflow exhaust. I will get videos up soon.
I just installed my non-catted test pipes on my CTS-V and have run into a bit of an issue. Trubendz shipped them to me bare, but I painted them. I painted them a week ago with duplicolor engine enamel 500 degrees. I just got through installing them and took the car out for a quick run. The pipes started to smoke a bit (i think it was the paint). I looked at the pipes and the paint is begining to bubble and peel.
Is this something I really need to worry about? I don't mind if it just smells bad for a few days and the paint peels off, but I don't want the paint to ignite and light my car on fire. I am a little worried about driving this car 40 miles to work tomorrow.
Anybody have any ideas?
Here is what the pipes look like after five minutes of spirited driving. |

You should strip and repaint with 1200 deg header paint.
I'm sure it sounds mean.
I ran catless for around a week, while I waited on replacement cats. |

Thanks for the reassurance. I was kinda freaking out when I saw some smoke after my short drive.
I'll wait to repaint them, because I think trubendz is gonna send me catted versions soon. |
