you can call Neo Prolink support, and i'm 100% sure they'll confirm this. From what the technician told me, it'll be a while before there's any word on a firmware update |

I think you must be right about them rebadging the USA Spec model. I spent several hours reading on other car forums last night & it seems that A LOT of people think the same thing as you! I found pics of both kits & they look identical! I think I'm going to go with the UAS Spec since I can find it cheaper.
Thanks again! |

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) I just installed my Neo Prolink yesterday after work. Super easy install. The hardest part was getting the ipod cable from the sending unit located on the rear tray under the carpet near the rear seat to the center console. I must have struggled with that for at least an hour and a half. But finally got it through the carpet after cheese grating my hands to mulch. I am also waiting on another subwoofer for the rear deck since my MTX blew up somehow. I also installed some Dynamat over the top of the rear deck to help with sound.
The Neo Prolink is just as Mystical Ice stated in his videos. I set mine up in advanced mode so it shows Artist and Title of song. I have only had a total of a half an hour of playing with it but I like it a lot. It will play songs in random order from your main list of songs, as well as playlists you set up on the Ipod.
It was rather expensive but it was simple plug and play. Now I don't have to burn any more CD-RW's for my CD changer. What a relief.
Thanks Mystical Ice for your responses on this thread and the videos you made. It helped me make the right choice. |

What is needed to be removed to install it? Rear deck? Seats? Radio?
I bought the unit that ichpen sold back in July and have yet to install it... curious as to what I'm getting myself into... how much time I need to set aside to do it right |

I bought the unit that ichpen sold back in July and have yet to install it... curious as to what I'm getting myself into... how much time I need to set aside to do it right | Follow the directions in the FAQ for taking out the side panels near the rear tray, the back seat and bottom, and then the tray. That takes about 10 minutes at most. Unplug connector from XM box and plug into supplied harness. Connect harnesses. Maybe 1 to 2 minutes at most. Connect ipod connector and put under carpet. It took me a LONG time to snake the connector under the carpet. I couldn't see an easy way getting the cable under the carpet. There is something in the middle that the snake I made kept getting hooked up on. Other than that it is just a reverse of dis-assembly. Put everything back together. That's it. You don't have to touch the radio. All connections are on the rear tray.
So I would say it takes an hour if you can get the cable through the carpet easy. Or if thats where you are going to put the Ipod.
Do the install and you will be VERY happy. The sound is crystal clear And you are allowed to play with playlists, or just random order of all the songs on your Ipod. |

As long as you get the PA11-VETTE USA Spec Kit it will work. Got one in my V.

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) Shoulda done that a LONG time ago... took me about 2 hours to install... longest part was running the cord into the center console...
Rear deck was a snap using the FAQ...
iPod works great and turns on and off automatically... pauses as soon as the car is turned off, then remains paused in charging state for 20 minutes until the car "really" shuts off, then it goes on internal battery power for about 5 minutes while paused then just shuts off... it's a beautiful thing...
Now I really realize how much FM Modulation blows...
Thanks for "pushin" me to installing this! |

Thanks for "pushin" me to installing this! | No problem. I am glad it worked out for you.
I did have one weird problem though. Yesterday morning, I got into my car and was about to connect my iPod, and the XM page on the Nav screen wouldn't show up. Only AM, and 2 pages of FM. I pulled the negative battery terminal for a few seconds, and the XM came back up on the Nav screen again. May be a random occurence. But it happened. I still love my Neo Prolink.
Anyone want to buy a Belkin FM transmitter? |

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) When you have the iPod on shuffle, and use the radio to track forward, does it go to the next "random" song, or does it go to track 1 on your iPod...
For some reason, I thought it was doing that, but today, everytime I would track forward, it would go to Adam Sandler... doh! |

iPod is set to shuffle all 4200 songs. Track 1 of 4200 plays at random. If I use the iPod to track forward, I go to track 2 of 4200, which is a random selection... If I let that play through, it goes to random track 3 of 4200... if I use the radio to track forward at this point, it plays track 4 of 4200, but not a random track, but rather the actual track 4 on the iPod. It does not "track forward", but rather tells the iPod to play "Track 4"...
That sucks! I use the shuffle feature a lot... |

1) Removed both rear sail panels (FAQ)
2) Unscrewed 4 bolts on steel beam on back of seats (you get to these from inside trunk space) (FAQ)
3) Removed rear deck (just pull on it) (FAQ)
4) Unplugged XM harness, put Neo harness in-line - Plug it all back in.
5) Routed wires down behind drivers side, rear seat side bolster.. nothing to remove, just pull it away and tuck 'em in there.
6) Remove rear seat (FAQ) (Just pull it up in the front, then out... away from lap belts)
7) Ran wires under rear seat.
8) Decided to leave Neo box in small "compartment" that is right in the middle of the rear seats, next to the fuse box... kinda over the drivetrain tunnel... small empty space was perfect. Seat is VERY easy to remove, so future access to the Neo is cake.
9) Removed 4 bolts which held down the back of the center console
10) Lifted center console - Don't lift too high, since the front is still connected
11) Removed rear power panel on center console... it just pops out
12) Ran the iPod cable about 2 feet under the carpet from the rear seat hiding spot, to the center console... this took me FOREVER... The carpet is REAL tight... finally got the wire from the console to the Neo down the "side" of the tunnel, and then wiggled it up to the topside... Very tight fit.
13) Drilled a 5/8" hole in the back of the center console. (The INSIDE part, under the armrest and behind the rear seat power adapter)... you ONLY see the hole if you lift the armrest. The wires disappear into the bowels of the console.
14) Hooked it up!
Since I also have the 6 foot extension (really didn't need it)... I put a generous amount of electrical tape on the connection... I didn't want it to pull apart and have half of it fall back into my hole... You would need to take out the 4 bolts again to lift the console to get it back out... so, I shoved as much as I could into the "guts" of the console, and have the rest coiled in the compartment... plenty of line to reach me, or my passenger... a rear passenger would have plenty of line as well, just need to pull it out from the insides of the console...
Make sense? |
