Did you just get by with one extension cable? |

iConnect cabling was more straightforward and they provided a longer extension.
However, I am hoping the Neo has better functionality than iConnect.
Can't wait to see those demonstration videos of the NEO in action.
I am thinking, there might be a way to get the adapter closer to the storage bin and reduce the length of the i-pod connector cable that's needed.
Perhaps a cable path under the back seat and along the driveshaft tunnel.

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) yes one extension cable is more than enough. with the extension cable, you get 10 feet from the Neo box to the end of the iPod adapter cable. To be honest i could've made do without even the extension cable, but now i have a good 5 feet of play in the cable, which comes in handy on long road trips when i want to be able to hand the iPod to back seat passengers so they can DJ also, it's almost as if Cadillac made that little compartment on the right of the accelerator pedal JUST FOR the Neo... it fits PERFECTLY, there's some sort of foam around it, so it's insulated and doesn't move around, and if you end up with TOO MUCH cable (as i did in the end), you can just neatly tuck it back there. the carpet pulls right back so you can access it in 10 seconds.
lunarx = i did originally try that, but i ran into the issue of where to hide the Neo box. Granted, it's not that big, but it doesn't fit under either of the front seats, and i didn't want to leave it lying in the glove box, because it takes too much room. The kit comes with enough cable to run it all the way around the driver's side of the cabin, and behind the center console, so i just did that in the end. you CAN make it work without the extension, but that would mean you'd only be able to use it from the front seat (it wouldn't reach the back seat)
I uploaded the 'demo' video. |

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) i have to throw in, that if you DON'T have XM, there are two toggle switches on the Neo that will control what shows up in XM2. If you have XM, then XM2 will show your regular XM channels. If you don't have XM, then you can set the Prolink to 'take over' both XM1 and XM2, meaning you can play the iPod through both XM channels
Neo Prolink V2 Toggle Switches:
Toggle 1 = AUX input on/off
Toggle 2 = Direct mode (shows artist/title, allows more controls via radio buttons) / Advanced Mode
Toggle 3 = XM toggle 1
Toggle 4 = XM toggle 2
The manual explains all of this - if you'd like i can take a high-res image of the manual, or scan it, and post it here. |

I'm probably going with Advanced Mode for mine.
I might even just leave the iPod in the trunk (as I did before with my iConnect adapter)
Since you talked to Neo, did they say they have firmware updates coming to fix the Advanced Mode issues w/ the 6th Gen ipods? |

One thing i want to throw in too - i just looked at a picture of the USASpec iPod hookup kit... the kit looks IDENTICAL to the Neo Prolink V2 :-/ the only difference is there's a "USASpec" sticker on the white box, whereas there's a Neo sticker on the Neo unit... otherwise they look identical, and seem to have an identical harness, cables, etc. I'm betting they're the same kit to be honest... |

Richard (who seems to be their only tech, but i'm not complaining, cause he knows his stuff backward and forward) said that that's an known issue (Advanced mode not working) in all newer ipods = iPod classic video (the one i have), ipod nano, iPhone, etc. They only work in Advanced mode... apparently something to do with the chip that the newer iPods (and iPhone) are shipping with.
I asked if there's any scheduled update, and he said the engineers are working on it, but it's got something to do with licensing that's holding them back (and you know how that usually works out ). He did say that once they got something, it would be possible to update the Neo unit with a special USB cable (download the newest firmware to it from a computer i guess), which is pretty cool.
But basically if you have a newer generation iPod (or iPhone), don't plan on using Advanced mode, only Direct mode. |

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) Sorry for spamming the forum with my question, but after ordering the kit I discovered that my Canadian 2006 CTS-V has an aftermarket XM receiver/tuner. It's the Terk (XMDGMK/XMDGM100) installed behind the ashtray. Info on the unit is here http://www.audiovox.com/manuals/owne...Connect_OM.pdf. I get XM radio just fine and am able to control everything as if it was a factory xm receiver.
I aborted my initial install of the Neo Prolink upon this discovery but now I'm thinking it should have a standard GM/Caddy harness/wires from the Digital adapter to the factory Navi unit, would it the Neo Prolink fit in between there? Just want to check this with you before I disassemble the Navi again to have a proper look. |

right above the accelerator pedal, on the right, pull the carpet back, and see if there's a little space there. there was on mine, and my neo prolink fit in there just fine |

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) Sorry to dig up an old thread, but this one has a lot of info & people who seem to know what they are talking about!!!
I've been looking at all the iPod integration options out there & I've pretty much narrowed it down to the NEO & the USA Spec. I'm curious to know if there was any resolution to using the NEO in both modes with a newer iPod? Also, has anyone installed the USA Spec kit? I REALLY like the way the NEO comes with enough cable to mount the adaptor in that little cubby behind the carpet. But the USA Spec kit is a bit cheaper (at least as far as I can find) and someone mentioned it could possibly even be the same kit?!? If it has the same cables & all I wouldn't mind saving a couple pennies!
I was just looking on the USA Spec site & they have a new mode... http://www.usaspec.com/ipod.html
New Hybrid Mode! - Combines best features of Direct Mode and Playlist Mode. Create and access your favorite mobile playlist or directly access all your iPod content manually on your iPod. iPod displays song title information and iPod is not locked, so the iPod can be operated manually at all times.
Thoughts??!?! |

(Neo ProLink PODGMXMV2) I read the entire thing & I did see that, but I looked over their website time & time again & it never says anything about not being able to work with new iPods. Which is why I asked if there had been any updates!?! This is what their site says:
Compatible with iPod™ Mini, Nano (1Gen, 2Gen, 3Gen), Photo, Video, Classic, iPhone, iTouch [not compatible with 1st & 2nd Generation (10GB/15GB), iPod Shuffle]
Just looking for some more info on the topic!
BTW, your post is by far the most informative on the topic! |
