Great web resources really helped (here, cadillacfaq.com, siriusbackstage.com, etc). A huge improvement. As in my post at the Sirius forum, I think the culprit is the XM box in my V; not XM itself.

Am I missing something here? The merger was approved between the two, so why not wait it out a bit and get both?

that's what I was thinking. I hope that they just start broadcasting both networks on both signals so I can get sirius through the XM signal and not have to pay $100 for a converter.

The Justice Department gave the merger the green light, but the FCC has yet to rule. I was facing an XM renewal in May, and already had one Sirius account for my Tahoe, so combining accounts paid for half the cost of my box.

Anyway, hanging on to that bad GM factory XM box (at least in my 2004 V)wouldn't have solved the dropouts, poor frequency response and compressed audio problem. I really didn't mind the XM programming; it was the bad sound I couldn't take any longer.

What worries me (and should worry all of us), is if the merged company furthers limits bandwidth by adding channels of each provider without making room by dropping others. The other thing I wonder about is what the merged company will do long term. Can they really afford to keep both fleets of birds up and running long term???

I take it if you do this you can't use the IPOD connect.

XM module in the CTS-V is pure crap, sounds horrible. I am going to replace it with the sirius kit just because of sound quality.
