Question RWHP vs Trapspeed?

Remove this ad
I am modding my CTS V to a little over 400 RWHP. Does anyone have one in the 410 to 425 RWHP range that has any trap speeds in the 1/4 mile that they can share. Just wondering were it will end up in trap speed. Thanks

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

Haven't had mine at the track yet, but I'd guess somewhere in the mid 12s depending on driver.

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

yea 115 would be a target. Wiith our cars its all about learning to get the first 60 feet down pat. Sub 2.0 is hard, but should and can be done.

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

Trap speed is not going to change with the 60' time like ET will. Trap speed should be alot more consistant. But any way would still like to see it.

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

In these cars trap speed is more likely to vary than most, due to the amount of babying you have to do to get them to leave without hopping. If you could leave hard, I would add a solid 2-3 mph to my estimate.

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

I have only had it 2 weeks now and I have already read enough about the rear to know I need to resist the temptation of running from a dig. Besides I got a mustang for dig racing that I can side step the clutch at 6 grand. I guess I will have to cough, cough rice race and run from a roll with the V. Looks like I have a car for running from a dig and another car for running from a roll. Besides the added weight of the CTSV doesn't mean as much the faster you go.

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

The mustang in the garage with a cover on it that is set up for the 1/4, pulls low 1.50's 60' time. The CTSV is not remotely designed to run from a dig. The rear would wind up on the pavement in peices. I was just wondering on the general trap speed because I want enough RWHP to pull on a new BMW M5. Gotta keep them where they belong for us american guys you know. I need to know if I need heads and cam or cam only. I just got to do it because most of the people that I know that buy high dollar foreign cars have a snooty attitude and nothing tickles me more than busting that high falluting hiney with this old american iron.

Re: RWHP vs Trapspeed?

Cam only and you'll be able to pull an M5. With heads it won't even be close.
