I typically lease and do the quick lube oil changes but now that I own I want to do this myself.

(Been looking for a new jack also!) |

Make sure you buy the jacking point pucks that install on the underside of the V so you don't crinkle the chassis.

Or best yet, just get some of those plastic $38 Blitz ramps (autozone has the 8000 lb ones which are more than enough) and you won't have to worry about jacking it up. I just bought some last week. I needed the whole car up in the air, so pulled up on the ramps backwards, and I jacked up the front on the actual frame (about 4 inches in) but the jack fit just fine |

I'm still new to the forum, so I don't know if it's ok to post the vendor I bought them from (not a site supporting vendor from what I can tell). They were $50 for a set of 4.
As for a jack not fitting, I drive my C5 up on some 2x6's prior to jacking it. |

I do not have any pucks would love to know where you guys get them.
As far as ramps go, I have to drive my car onto a 1-1/2" block in order to clear the nose, then I can drive right up the ramps. I have to do the same with the rear, the ramps hit the mufflers if I do not use the blocks first. |

If you really want some pucks, go to a sporting good store and buy their cheap hockey pucks....gotta be less expensive than that! |

Mike | There are several Corvette accessory suppliers that will sell you 2 for $50 or more. Personally I think it's a rip-off, cuz I bought some.
Oh yeah.... remember to remove them when done. If you don't . . you'll hear them bounce once or twice against the undercarriage as you're cruising down the road before they go rolling into a ditch somewhere.
I like this idea. ( plagarized from a corvette forum) "Made mine from 4 old hockey pucks. Drilled a hole in the center of each puck and threaded a carriage bolt into the hole. Ground down the top edges of the carriage bolt so that it fit into the slot in the rail. Rotated the puck 90 degrees to hold them in place. Works like a charm and cost less than $5 total." |

I used to use 1X3 lumber but the pucks store easier in the jack cases. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
