It got pulled over because the cop saw the sticker class on the trailer.
It was 2000# one pallet over weight for the liccence it had. So we had to get a new licence and bring it up there while the cop sat and waited.
For this offence (the rig was NOT overloaded but just overloaded for the plate it had) we had to pay 2000 dollars!!!!!! and buy a new plate.
Now that in my opinion is B.S.! it was not endangering anyone and yet was the most expensive ticket I have ever seen!!!! More than reckless driving dui or anything.
Then the very next day my cousin was delivering in our f-550 and got pulled over for nothing BTW the cop (going the opposite way btw) came up to the truck and said you inspection sticker is expired. My cuz told him no its not look at it we just had it in two weeks ago so I doubt that your right. The cop saw that he was an idiot and was jake was right and proceeded to say sorry be-grudgingly and walked back to his car (looking for somthing to scold about) turned around made him check all his llights and then told him his mudflap was loose an to GET THAT FIXED!!
cops are A-holes for the most part IMO espically state cops who are just revenue collectors imo

I understand both, depending on mood. I will always try to be nice first, and if they insist on writing me a ticket, then I become terse.
I have had amazing success on picking my fights. I think I have been stopped about 10 times in the past 5 years. I received two tickets, one for running a red light (by a casino...) the other for speeding in a work zone (utter BS as I was beyond a football field past the zone when I increased my speed). All the other times I received a warning and never had to enter into 'terse mode'.
BTW I fought the ticket for speeding in a work zone and won in court... siting a discrepancy of the issuance date. Judge interrupted me and called me up front and dismissed the ticket instantly, while assuring me that it doesn't give me the right to speed. Funny thing is I met with the prosecutor before the court date and wanted to discuss my ticket, he was a broken record and said he would only accept twice the fine ($500) in order to get rid of the points part of the violation. I told him 'See you in court!' |

Don't start with the, "Oh, well, you shouldn't have been breaking the law" and "I thought it was his duty to enforce the law" crap. Speed traps are also against the law, to which enforcers of the law are equally held accountable to. Why are they allowed to dismiss the law for their purposes? Hell, if they're gonna bend the rules to unlawfully ticket people, then I'm gonna bend the rules to help those people who are wrongfully done in. Albeit, I would not even have known it was against the law to flash lights in such a manner, whereas I am pretty damn sure they know that speed traps are illegal.
Just sayin ... Yeah, it's never wise to antagonize an officer - especially one that is more than willing to misuse his power as an officer to exacerbate your situation - but sometimes we snap, and for good reason. |
Yes speed traps are illegal. However you clearly don't know the deffinition. Look it up. This is clearly not one. Ensuring motorists are traveling the safe speedlimit for the road (safety checks) is what these officers were engaged in. |

Just sayin ... Yeah, it's never wise to antagonize an officer - especially one that is more than willing to misuse his power as an officer to exacerbate your situation - but sometimes we snap, and for good reason. | Late one night, I was coming home from Concord, NH. It was 2AM and I knew the Pooper Troopers would be out in full force. As I got on I-93, I saw an officer had someone pulled over. So I tippytoed away and stayed UNDER the limit. As I looked in my mirror, I saw the officer floor it towards me. He stayed on my bumper for 2 miles and then pulled me over. I had the cruise set to 62...in a 65. When he pulled me over he claimed that I was doing 82. The officer was downright fabricating the entire incident. I didn't say a word.
I was furious but was going to fight it in court. There's nothing to be gained by arguing with a cop, nevermind alone on a highway at 2AM. When I got to fight it in court, the officer showed. Good thing. I asked him if it were correct that he had another car pulled over before me. He said yes. I asked him if it were true that I-93 had a long uphill where the officer could see me for at least 2 miles. He said yes. I asked him if he ever suspected I was inebriated. He said no. I then asked him if he used RADAR at any time. He said no.
Since I established that I already knew where the officer was and was not drunk, that it would be crazy for me to speed away at 82mph, and that I certainly wouldn't have when the officer was pacing me, the judge was able to deduce that I hadn't been speeding.
If I had been a prick to the officer when he pulled me over, I may have had to defend myself against other offenses. Or maybe even put away right then.
If you want to have a clean record, you need to pick your battles wisely. Reason with the cop if you can. Fight to the death in the courtroom...

Why don't you be so kind as to enlighten me with the proper definition of a speed trap?
Regardless of the semantics, he did specifically state it was a speed trap in his very first sentence. Moreover, the impetus behind said operation did not, at all, seem to be rooted in the assured safety of motorists, but rather ensuring that a quota was met - revenue.
If it was just a safety check, why the hell did the officer go out of his way to pull him over, only to explicitly point out that the seemingly benign act of flashing his lights was illegal, since it was, in this case, apparently used to warn others of law enforcement. He was obviously bothered only by the fact that a civilian motorist was attempting to warn others to his presence.
If safety was the primary concern, his presence being known would not be an issue. The presence of law officials is one of the simplest and most effective deterents to any behavior that would jeopardize safety, so ... safety checks, my ass.
It's pretty clear that their operation was rooted in revenue building, not the safety concerns of traveling motorists. I'd be willing to bet that, although the average speed of the cars on that roadway may have been above the speed limit, the flow of traffic was uniform and that there was no threat to safety.
So, is that fair and just enforcement of the law or is it a gross misuse of the law to generate revenue? Raise your hand, if you think it's the latter. Let me see some hands, please (unless you wanna get bitch slapped by a baaaaad mamba jamba).
So, regardless of semantics, it's bullshit.
But, again, please do educate me as to what makes this operation exclude itself from what would normally be termed a speed trap. |

protect and collect...lol | exactly I think every day about how screwed up the system is and there is no way to get around it. I seriously wish commen sence of an intellegent group would be the law. And every case was dealt with by a "case by case" judgement But this is a whole diffrent thread and will get wordy and boring
Make the cops have video evidence of everything and it would solve alot of problems. We have the technology we just dont use it for good |

Unfortunately there are many, many power hungry cops that like to mess with people just because they have a badge and can. Please dont judge all of them |

At least here where I work at. Our video and audio systm acitvates 45 seconds before we even hit our lights.. meaning that it's already recording "our" speed behind you 45 sec prior to us pulling you over. and it records everything you and I say during our beloved traffic stop. You see... we ar doing our very best to satisfy all your needs. If people break the law then oh well.. I try to be very lenient to people, simply because I drive a "V" as well and I speed every day. For those that hate the police.. Well.. I am sorry your past experiences have led you to think that way. It's sad but oh well. I know we have bad apples out there. But don't judge all of us for what a few have done. Because if you get an attitude with me and you broke the law ..... .. well.. it's just best not to.
