Re: 2nd rear end not covered due to cold air?

Touchy situation, it is the Dealer that is making the decision though. They might have called their AVM (area manager) or someone else to ask them about it.
The only advice I can give is take time to meet with the Service manager. Don't be rude, don't be a jerk, just tell him you don't understand why a CAI could possibly void the warranty on the rear differential.

Most SM's have a pre-conception that modification=abuse. It also gives them an out to cut back on warranty expenses and avoid an audit. It doesn't do much for their CSI though. Since you have so many miles they may not be worried about you getting a survey so they probably don't care about that really.

I know there have been problems with some diffs, I wouldn't go as far as calling them all garbage, but you can drive one and tell when it is bad.

As someone mentioned you could reinstall the factory airbox and take it to another dealer. If the one you are at now refuses to do it with a CAI on it, they probably won't let you reinstall the OE box and bring it back.

You say they "rebuilt" the rear, how did it turn out?
Do you have it back yet?

i kinda like the clutch ( been driving my V two days now ) but all this diff talk keeps from dropping the hammer mainly because i'm 24 and dont fell like having another battle at the stealership. maybe if i pay the old lady next door like you see people get the bum to buy booze

You have to step back and give some thanks to American knowhow that the V even survived being built.

Great to see that most everything is addressed with the 09 (where's the HUD?).

Unfortunate what they put some owners through though.

with 2020 cafe, it's a good bet that V2 will be Vlast. (well maybe not, but it will be the end of mainstream big V8 cars)
