So who knows the most benevolent Dealer in the US that will replace my whining rearend under warranty. The local ones won't. They say it's "normal."
Ideas? I thought there was someone in OH or VA? Ideas? |

There's a couple here in the Detroit area that are excellent with regard to honoring warranties when it comes to the CTS-V diff, but honestly thought that there were some in the Chi-town area that were pretty good, too.
Did you try the Cadillac Dealer Reviews link above?

JUST got back from Schepel, they said there shouldnt be a problem with warranty on a CTS-V diff. On another note they are replacing ANOTHER one of my seat covers, the rubberized thing that goes around the shifter boot, and said they couldnt warranty the steering wheel for flaking right now because GM would give them problems when they sent it back. They did say however that as soon as it gets worse bring it back and there would be NO problem doing it under warranty! |

Remember to be professional and ask for their help with the problem. Some people try to berate the service writers and service mgrs; those customers end up on the short end of the stick.
Introduce yourself with an extra cup of Starbuck's coffee (etc) to start. You know the routine. |

Thanks to ALL! I went to Schepel in IN (much closer than VA) and they did honor my warranty on the diff. They treated my car with great respect and I would take it there again for service.
NEW QUESTION! Those who have had their diff's replaced, what P/N did you see on the bill? I can't correlate this to anything via GM's website for GM Mechanics. Just out of curiosity, what was the P/N you saw on your bill?
Here's what I see:
Per PIP3051D (disregard PIP3051C) Howl Whine Noise From Rear Axle -- Keywords accelerate decelerate -- (Sep 14, 2007)
Document ID 2012230
Carrier P/N 25873498
So is this the correct carrier?
They also said that the carriers come prefilled and after a test run they add a bottle of limited slip additive. Sound about right?
The reason I ask any of this is because the replacement unit is louder (whinier) than the original. I am not expecting this to go away now that I have this diff in there. I thought reducing the noise was the reason everyone had their's replaced in the first place, right? |

Ask Matt or whomever you usually work with what they think about the new, louder whine?
I looked up some more information on my particular diff. It appears to be the 2006 version so that's good! The question now, is: will my whine go away (all the way) or in part once I change out the diff fluid?
I just spoke to Matt today and he thought it might go away. I have experience breaking gears on other cars....that doesn't happen.
I did dig up a possibility that they did not actually put in Limited Slip Additive, as they thought they had. I am considering AMSOIL's Severe Duty 75/90 once I get to 400-500 miles on this thing.
I also wonder what damage may be ocurring in there if there isn't any Limited Slip Additive present? |

Matt is my service writer too. I will ask him when he gets in there, and I'm SURE they put the limited slip in, when I took my V to them after the other dealer did not put limited slip in they are AMAZED that some dealers dont do that. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
