Diff 3 Dealer Issue

Remove this ad
Well, I finally got my car back today from the dealership (KENDRICK CADILLAC IS TERRIBLE). They installed the 06+ diff this time and a new differential vent. I asked them about whether or not they put the limited slip additive in the diff fluid and they said no. I told them it was required, and they told me that they get their differentials partially filled and that the additive was already in there. Does this sound right?????

I agree, I didn't even know that this was this cars 3rd diff. I got the VIS printed out this time when I was in there and it looks like the previous owner (GM Executive) had one replaced too in under 5000 miles!!!

Re: Diff 3 Dealer Issue

That sounds fishy. on my recall i asked why additive not on parts list and they said it was not needed. i insisted he call cadillac and they said it was required. they ordered additive supposedly last wednesday and not in yet to put in. their excuse they don't see many v's. good luck getting it resolved.

Re: Diff 3 Dealer Issue

My dealer, Crest told me the same thing on my first diff. And it lasted 11k miles, they installed a new seal and fluid after 5k miles.

Took it in today for the recall, now their just gonna replace the complete diff. Service mechanic kinda scoffed at the KARS III, but ended up saying he could care less and they would cover the new diff.

My service rep said when the diff arrived(they don't stock them???) he'd call me and be sure to have an 08 cts waiting for me when i dropped the V off. Looks like I need to be getting 2 gift certificates for the Lobster.

Re: Diff 3 Dealer Issue

what kind of places are you guys taking these cars to??? of course part number 1052358 limited slip additive is required in the V rear!!!! and no it doesnt come with any in it!!!!! now with that said there is a brand new synthetic fluid that we carry that allready has the additive in it, but I cant imagine that somewhere telling you you dont need the stuff at all will have this fresh off the shelf fluid.

unless they can show that they use the new synthetic fluid part # 88862624 (which we have but have not started using on the V's yet) they need to put the 1052368 additive in. if they refuse to put it in you NEED to buy some and get it in there pronto regardless and then raise a stink with GM, dont wait for them to admit they were wrong bad things could happen in the meantime.

Re: Diff 3 Dealer Issue

Thanks Luke,
I called GM RIGHT after you posted and told them the situation and read them your post (no names of course). They told me that they would call the dealership and get the problem corrected immediately. The car will HAVE to be driven a total of 15 miles from now until I can get it in to the dealer tomorrow. You think that will be alright on it?

Re: Diff 3 Dealer Issue

Yep, these diffs suck. I had the Federal Transportation Department (or something like that) call me regarding my differential. I have yet to call the guy back, but I will, Im going to tell them they better require GM to either guarantee the replacement of them with a new unit, give all 04-07 cts-v owners a credit towards their next purchase with GM, or another form of reimbursment.
