I returned from Iraq earlier this month and decided to reward myself. I intended to buy a Vette (I used to have a '99 FRC). I went to Moore Cadillac in Chantilly, test drove a silver 2005 CTS-V and forgot about the Vette.
I think I got a fair deal. It's in great condition, 23k miles, new tires (non runflats), with Cadillac Certification for $31k. They replaced the weathered headlights with new HID's.
I already got rid of the 1st -4th shift with the Cag's (?) plug. While I was under there, I took a good look around based on forum comments about the rear diff and leaking motor mounts. The rear diff looks fine but I noticed the right front shock is covered in an oily film. The shock appears to work fine, there is no bouncing or other obvious problem there; can it be the motor mount leaking onto the shock? I cannot get "Competitive Mode" to turn on. I followed the instructions here and in the manual. I'll probably make an appointment soon at the dealer to address these problems.
I'm about an hour from Lindsay Cadillac and my better half has already said it's ok to spend any OT I make on the V. I'm getting my wish list ready!
I could go on but this is getting long and I'll post some more later.
A lot of great info here and participation. I intend to sign up as a supporting member to help out.
Thanks,
Fred Q |

If they're not working the re-program procedure is in the faq at www.cadillacfaq.com. If they are working and you can't get in comp mode then your nav was probably replaced at some point and need a tech 2 reprogram from the dealer. Make that dealer take care of everything (shock leaking, competitive mode, ...), and you'll have a great car.
BTW, Welcome Back, too!

The tire pressures are fine. Why would the nav get reprogrammed? Is it something common or related to collision repair, etc. I did not get a carfax report on the car. I'll run the VIN as suggested.

if your nav was ever replaced (mine was for cd player issues) then the dealer is supposed to program it so it knows its in a V and not a regular CTS so it will go into comp mode. |
