There's gotta be a mistake in the stock engine tuning, because even back in the late 80s some cars were smart enough to turn off the injectors when you were decelerating in gear. Instantaneous milage SHOULD go to infinity when decelerating in gear, at least until you get closer to idle (maybe switch over at 1500rpm?). Instead mine seems to jump from around from 70mpg above 2700rpm or so down to the teens below that. When it drops down, it's accompanied by alot of backfiring in the exhaust too. I know my '99 C5 acted the way I would expect - deceleration with a closed throttle in gear always showed 99mpg (the limit for those cars) on the DIC. That car got much better milage on the highway too - you got >30mpg up to about 70mph, but that's probably due to it being much more slippery than our cars...
Still - I'm sure StealthV could tune out that backfiring and make the deceleration-in-gear tuning a little more intelligent...

OH one more thing. GC's show is fun to watch but he does not like american! There was a show where he almost got into serious trouble with good old southern boys. we just need to come up with better car tv show to shut him up. It's that simple and we can say how ****ing POS british cars are. Plus who the **** wants to drive on wrong side of the road and drink warm beer. don't let some BS bother you, cts-v is awsome car.

buyers are very smart now. it is not like 5 years ago when nav or some cheap gadget is going to win the buyer. Now days, IMO, it is about the value and domestic cars always had better value. I honestly think domestic companies are going to take over like Japanese did in 80s and 90s and europeans cars don't stand out like it used to.

New Zr1 is going to win lots of ferrari and other exotic buyer. it is about the value. i just can't say it enough.

Clarkson doesn't hate all American cars. Anyone ever see his review of the Dodge Viper or Ford GT? And he makes fun of British cars too. Ever see the drag race with the Triumph TR4 vs the Mazda Miata? The TR4 pulls way out in front, only to stall in a cloud of smoke. He said he really liked the CTS-V but that it did have some problems. It's a funny show-if you're actually angry at JC's comments, you don't get it and might be better off with Motor Week, where all cars are deemed good.
