CD Player Issues

My CD Player in the V is acting up.

About 5 songs into a CD (all burned CD-Rs so far) it will start crackling and posibly feeze/unable to read. Can switch discs then come back to the original discs. Skip direct to song that was messing up and it is fine.

Has done this with Sony CD-Rs, Memorex, and a couple others.

What gives?

My V only has 5500 miles on it and the NAV was replaced 2-3000 miles ago due to a problem.

Has done it ever since I got it back. I haven't griped till now. But last night I burned brand new ones and switched to the Memorex discs and it hasn't gone away.

I was having a crackling issue with any CDs i tried to play - burned ones and originals. I also had one burned one that wouldn't play at all. the dealer told me to try a cd head cleaner but it didn't work - they're replacing it tomorrow.

I am on my 5th (soon to be 6th) radio, the 3rd one had this problem, if you tried to skip to a track deep into the CD (any CD not just burned) it would freeze, but if you listened through it would be ok. It also got the crackling!

Sorry to bring up an old post, but I'm experiencing the CD player static/freeze problem and wondered if there are any updates to this issue?

Well I am actually getting ANOTHER radio under warranty next week, I think the problem is just that the radios sometimes have a little hiccup...kind of like windows. Restart and go on your way.

Same issues here and mine is also about 5,000 miles old. Same symptoms as mentioned above and it won't read some tracks on brand new CD's burned or not. I shut it off and then back on and sometimes it'll read it fine, sometimes not. I need to get an iPhone/iPod connector.

yes you do. i don't know what i'd do without my ipod hookup. it's a beautiful thing

Yeah, CD's are so 90's. I think I'll just use this as motivation to get an iPod connection. I really have an issue with people working on my car, so I'll be an early adopter of the mindset that CD's are like 8 track players in the mid 70's and just pretend it doesn't exist. (I'm guessing on the timing, I was born in 1972). Well, off to use the lovely search function to find out my options.
