Any idea where one can source a pair of those? I was going to install my brake ducts today on my Subie for a track day tomorrow, but the damn hoses are so chewed up from rubbing the tires that I couldn't use them anymore!
As for the rest of the kit, I don't know where this came to fruition or not, but it looks to me like the outlet is poorly positioned so that it would blow straight at the inner face of the rotors. That's a good way to cause warping - inside of rotor nice and cool, outside of rotor not so cool. The outlet should direct the air to the center of the rotor, so the cooling air can be sucked through the venting of the rotor.

I guess we will have to wait untll the R&D is R&Ded to know for sure!! |

It's not like what I'm saying is something new, it's simple thermodynamics. Look at anything from a NASCAR stocker to a BTCC/DTM/JGTC touring car to an F1 car and you'll see that the cooling air is ducted to the center of the rotor to the maximum extent possible. Cooling one face of the rotor is suboptimal and makes no sense when you can easily duct the air to the center of the rotor so the vanes "pump" the cool air through the rotor. |

Those rotors look mighty close to calling it quits. Spider cracks crawling out from damn near every hole |

Norm | I bet if you got a picture of the back side of that rotor you would see that the hose attaches to a duct aimed at the center of the rotor.
All rotors will crack after x ammount of hard use.
The rotor cooling is more about keeping pad, fluid and caliper temps in check.
If any of those temps get out of hand the brakes fade or perform far less than optimal.
Cooling the rotors, reduces the amount of heat soaking into those other components.
Those rotors actually look real good.
You would be very surprised to see how many cracks a well used rotor will develop during a pro level racing event and not fail.
Not that it shouldn't be replaced upon the earliest convenience (between events).

| | Cadillac Owners Connoisseur | | | | | Re: Brake Duct Kit Pricing Yez, I know - all cross drilled rotors will inevitably crack and the main purpose of cooling the rotors is to prevent fade. I'z just sayin.
When I saw it, I just thought I'd be shittin my self if I saw my rotors like that. But then, again, I don't change my rotors every hundred miles or so. |
