Take an old piece of garden hose a few feet long and use it like a stethoscope. Sometimes you can locate the "tick, tick, tick" that way.

My Tech found a bad weld on my exhaust after my headers were installed. You could barely see the small hole while the car was on the lift. I'm not an expert but sometimes it's the simple things. |

If your throwing codes, you might want to check your O2 sensor. It might not have been torqued down or possibly leaking from the bung. Did you reuse the stock gaskets or did you use new ones? Double check all the header bolts. Hold a thin sheet of paper around the welds and connection points while the car is running you will hear the escaping gases hit the paper.
Other than that I would say LS motors usually sound "ticky" with headers.
Hope this helps, good luck |

Hope this helps, good luck | Used kooks gaskets. Bolts are all tight. I have checked the gasket by the header and I cannot see any leaking from the flange whatsoever. I cannot see the bottom side however so it is possible.
The sound is far more than just normal operation engine noises. The sound is originating towards the collector/ cat area.
The idiot at auto zone wouldnt give me the actually code and the place was slammed people in broken-down shitboxes so he wouldnt give me the time to argue.
All I know it is Bank 2, Sensor 1, which could be any of the following:
P1132 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit Low Variance Bank 2 Sensor 1
P1153 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1
P1154 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Transition Time Ratio Bank 2 Sensor 1
P1155 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Lean Mean Bank 2 Sensor 1
P1156 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Rich Mean Bank 2 Sensor 1
Anyone.. Anyone... Ideas

Drive it around but stay off the power runs for a few miles and see if any codes.
You could have blown out the gasket doing WOT, which would not be unheard of.
Welcome to MOD HELL.

Welcome to MOD HELL. | The gaskets are fine, I double checked today. I havent taken the car WOT more than maybe twice in 2/3rd.
The car is bogging down in 1st gear pretty bad sometimes. I will hit the gas and its just falls on its face, boggs, backfires and then goes. It feels like I am either getting too much fuel, or not enough. I dont know that much about GM's and the LS series motors, this being my first, but is it possible that the car can be in "limp" mode, where the ECM is running the car real rich b/c it's identifying a unknown variable that could be a threat.???
I'm almost afraid to drive the car until I know WTF is going on, plus I dont want to foul the plugs.. etc. |

Hold both the clutch and throttle to the floor and crank the car- it'll turn over, lurch and then stop. Wait about 20 seconds and then start it normally.
This procedure resets the "home" position on the TB and turns off limp mode.

Well, its confirmed, I am offically dumping exhaust gasses from both of the header flanges, primarily from the passenger side flange( WHICH WAS F---ING REPLACED by kooks and still slightly untrue ).
So now I just need to check the collectors and make sure that they are completely leak free and then its on to the car stuttering when engaging gears in the 1-2k rpms range | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
