Here I thought it was because I don't have a sunroof.

Not sure how much the kit is, probably not cheap since it comes with a new yoke.
Your dealer might take pity on you and do a "Goodwill", but I wouldn't count on that.

It's now July and I have not received a recall notice, although I'm not having a problem - mine is bone dry. |

How can they go by the VIN # for the recall?? Shouldn't they go by the diff part #??

I am familiar with this situation and if the VIN on your car isn't subject to the recall, GM won't do it.
They don't have any way to track the recall by the diff part number. The issue is production date of the seal and the production date of the car it is in.
The diff part numbers will be the same even though suspect parts were used for only a particular time period.
They'd have to go by production date on the actual diff and they just won't go to that much trouble.
Get me the last 8 and I'll double check but if they ran the VIS and it didn't show up you are SOL.
If the seal is not leaking then don't worry about it.
The bulletin for using the updated seal applies to cars that don't fall under the recall, but in your situation it would be an out of pocket repair. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
