| | Cadillac Owners Fanatic Cadillac(s): Cadillac | | | | | How do i check the clutch fluid reservoir (and how would i possibly add to it) My car has been semi-reluctant to go into gear of late, I'm beginning to think after searching this might be the issue. I'm clearly a dumbass though for despite finding lots of threads saying "check clutch reservoir" i dont know where this is, and none of the reservoirs under the hood say clutch.
How can i check the level, and what would i need to add to it?
Thanks!

Take out the rubber accordian and fill it a little less than half. Pump a few times to get the air out, top off if needed, then reinstall the accordian and close.

I don't have a Corvette either, so my engine covers say "Cadillac" on them. |

I looked at it today and its impossible to see through the shot glass sized container to see where its filled up too.
So i remove the the cap, Check fluid level
If its low, add DOT 4 brake fluid
Pump the .... what? Clutch? Something in the shot glass thing?
then close
Thanks |

Thanks | LOL, poor Falylix.
Dude, remove the cap, you'll see the little rubber 'accordian' in there. You won't beak anything by removing the cap. Go from there.
Tomorrow's lesson, Blinker Fluid replacement.

-Chris | aye. I'm just trying not to brake anything through incompetence. |

Why are you saying to use DOT 4 brake fluid for the clutch? The brakes in this car use DOT 3 brake fluid. I have always used DOT 3 brake fluid in the clutch. I did this partly because the CTS (not the V) supplies fluid to the clutch directly from the brake reservoir.
Do you know something that is not indicated on the CTS-V reservoir or in the factory service manual? |

After you remove the cap, lift out the rubber accordian. Don't drip brake fluid on your paint or it will eat it up- if you do, wipe it up fast and wash it off well.
Once the accordian is out, the reservoir should be approximately half-full (or half empty, depending on your psychological profile ). Add fluid as necessary, then pump the clutch pedal 10 or 15 times. If the fluid level has gone down, repeat the fill/pump process until the fluid stays level after working the pedal.
Once this is done, put the rubber doohickey back in, tighten the cap, and you're done. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
