Certified Pre-Owned 04

Hey guys,

I bought a certified pre-owned 04 V and realized it didn't come with a spare or the original runflats. Is a certified pre-owned supposed to include the original run-flats or a spare? I've had some other issues with this dealership I got it from that's why I'm wondering if I got "cheated" and should go back and talk to them.

If it really is "certified", I would have to believe it would include runflats and no spare, or non-runflats with a spare.

But I have no knowledge of how a dealership "certifies" their pre-owned vehicles either.

You may have a bitch with the dealer ... not sure ... but, you can pick up a spare tire "kit" and wheel for not too much.

So, got any pics?

I don't want to imply that I know the legal specifics as it relates to "Certified Preowned Units" or CPO cars but to the best of my knowledge they are just inspecting the car for the purposes of extending the warranty. They are not really concerned about what equipment it does or does not have, they are more concerned with overall condition and the financial risk to Cadillac by extending the warranty to 6 years from the in service date or 100,000 total miles. I know that there are people on the forum with specific knowledge of the certification process but from my discussions with dealer friends of mine, this is my take away. This said, I still think that it is incumbent on the buyer to understand what they are or are not getting for their money. My Best, Rob

I bought my 04 Certified from a Cadillac and it was my understanding that it would have to be sold as stock form. The only reason we have no spare is because of the run flats and they assured that. So when I purchased the car it came with 4 new sets of run flats. From what it seems it looks like it depends on the dealership you buy from.

It depends, of course, where you pick it up. A spare tire setup, including wheel, but excluding the tire itself retails for almost $1,000 at the dealer.

After you get the wheel and tire, you're lookin' at less than a hundred clams.

I do not disagree (I have a spare), I was just trying to clarify that if drop the car off at the dealer with instructions to "install a spare tire" you will be faced with a significant invoice.

raveschi is correct. The dlr is just basically making the warranty 6yr/100K bumper to bumper with the usual exclusions for wear items like brakes and tires. I would care more about having the warranty to cover the diff than the tires. I don't think you will get very far by arguing that you should have runflats or a spare. Just get a spare and you will be all set.

Before I signed to get mine I told them to give me a spare or runflats. My sales guy came back and said they would get me a spare, because they priced out 4 run-flats and they were close to $500 a piece.
