He lifted the unlock from the inside and then proceeded to open it from the inside so the alarm didn't go off. ****ing pos cadillac doesnt even have the alarm go off when a window is shattered.
I was over my gf's place at the time but we weren't home. We had all the lights on and we found glass in the stairwell to her town home even though it is a good 15 feet from the car. Its very odd that someone would go towards the townhome door right after breaking into a vehicle nearby and stealing a laptop. Yah the only thing taken was my company laptop which is horrible. I hope my boss isn't going to be too pissed.
As you can see the gf's place is upstairs at the window to the right. The stairwell to go up to her door is next to it on the right at the bottom. That is where we found pieces of glass as well. |

Also if your boss is really worried about it, that laptop could probably be tracked via ip. |

Do not leave valuables in plain view in car!! Tis why you and I have a trunk.
What world have you been living in?
Sorry for your loss, but gee whiz. |

I will make a mental note to start locking my valuables in the trunk when I'm away from my car. |

I had two good friends suffer break-ins this past year, left their computer bags in the backseat, which was enough enticement for scumbags to smash a rear window-no recovery for either.
As a rule, I always put my computer bag or any other valuable in the trunk if I go into a store for five minutes.
Hope your boss is an understanding guy... |

But seriously dude, in Dallas they say it all the time on the news around here, do not leave valuables in plain sight in your car because of this very thing. |

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and a pigtail of the broken hardwired power cord from the stolen radar detector:
On the bright side, I now know how to replace window glass in the CTS. |

I have been worried that would happen so when I remember I stick it in the trunk so at least they cannot see it. I am not perfect and I do leave it in the back. I am going to make an effort to make surte it ends up in the trunk if I walk away for more then 5 as OBC said in a post above.
Hopefully your boss is cool with it and good luck to you.

I wasn't home at the time but a neighbor said my alarm actually did go off at around 330 AM. If i go to the mall or some other place i usually always put the laptop in the trunk or bring it into a friends place. But this one time I left it under the seat in the back and it gets jacked! =( Gated community and everything...
Hope this lesson helps others. Anyone have an idea on how much the damage will cost me? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
