Question Shaft mounted Rocker Arms

Remove this ad
Hey all,

Ok i know i should take this question to LS1Tech/LS1 for enquiries...But i want to ask the end users for thier opinions....

We all know there are only a few Shaft mounted rocker arm manufacturers ie

COMPCAMs
Harrop
PRW
Jesel
J&D

Has anyone had a perfect bolt on, or headaches tryin to get these suckers in?

I am askin for the prices range from 300$-1100$, pretty big when havin to choose just one...

Re: Shaft mounted Rocker Arms

I installed the Comp Cams #1500 system.

Works great but you have to do alot of work.

Besides having to open up the pushrod holes, what else is needed?

Re: Shaft mounted Rocker Arms

Naf, how are you?

I installed Yella Terra 1.8 rockers. It was literally a bolt in, no mods, no headaches, just bolt em on and go. I called a place called Atlantic Speed, they explained some of the pros and cons for the different manufacturers. The guy told me that Yella Terra was the only brand that he had never done a warranty claim on for failure or had a return from a customer for fitment issues. I paid about $400 for the set. Each cylinder has two rockers attached to a small shaft (two rockers per shaft), and a pedastal goes under each rocker. They use stock length push rods and the stock rocker bolts. The whole project took me less than two hours.

1 You need to remove every boss and baffle in the valve cover.

2 You need to add a 1/2 inch spacer under the valve cover (JEG'S)

3 You need to convert the coil wires to right angle exit from the coil (to keep from rubbing on the harness).

4 You SHOULD change the springs and keepers (duals and a Ti keeper)

No doubt that it doesn't hurt to ask here, but their is just more LSx technical info over there. Their caddy specific info is a little lacking though. Just about every post made over there in the CTSV forum is made here as well.

Get the proper length pushrods, that's the best way to go.
You can check on ebay for New Era Performance. Try this link.....

Like you said straight forward, easy, and no other mods.

Re: Shaft mounted Rocker Arms

Just curious but why are you wanting shaft mount over pedestal mount?

You may rev more with shaft mounted over pedestal. if you wanna break the 7000 mark you need a solid valve train.

It starts with the cam and ends with the Valves...

The less mass you have the less likely you will have valve float or complications...

Question Re: Shaft mounted Rocker Arms

Are you talking stock ratio rockers or different ratio?

Re: Shaft mounted Rocker Arms

Totally stock... 1.7

I also read on another site the Yella Terras weight is the same as the stock ones...

Thats a big bonus...
