Keep an eye on the OneLap reports starting this weekend. There are two CTS-V's running in it. One is a Mallet prepared car (John Bender).

No it has been around for many many years in slightly different formats. It started out as the Cannonball run years ago. That movie Cannon balll run" was loosly (very loosly) based on the coast to coast race called the Cannonball Baker sea to shining sea run. The idea was to drive as fast as possible from New York to LA. Obviously, after several years, this came to the attention of the authorities...... Brock Yates has always "fathered" the event and turned it into a different sort of legitimate deal still trying to keep the orginal flavor of the event. If you review the schedule you can see that it is a non-stop flog from one race track to another for a week. The cars compete for times on the various race tracks and then have to be driven 600-1500 miles to the next racetrack. So...the cars have to be true street cars but the higher the performance the better. No real prizes are awarded to speak of....just bragging rights. There is a tremendous amount of money spent by the competitors to win, thought.

The V's placed 30th and 33rd for the wet skid pad test today. More of a tire test than anything else. There are good updates on the one lap site each day.

This is a re-cap of today's first event:

In case you missed the first day's results, the OLOA Lincoln Team LS placed 4th overall behind: 1.) Porsche 911, 2.) Porsche 911 C2 and 3.) Porsche 911 GT3. The LS pulled .912 Gs in the Wet Skid Pad run and earned 395 points. The Porsches pulled .93, .928 and .915 Gs respectively. Needless to say, the LS is ranked first in its class at this point.

The two CTS-Vs in competition ranked 30th and 33rd overall.

This car could give the -Vs some real competition!

    Re: One Lap of America

I pieced one together for $47.6k and it's just about the same curb weight with nearly the same features (minus OnStar/phone/XM) and 280 horse at the crank (in a V8, that's about the same as my SUV). I don't think that really qualifies as a competitor. If I dumped $15k into it then it would run with a stock V, putting the price well over 60k. Oh, and it's a Lincoln! The one they are running in One Lap is allegedly 430hp according to their site.

    http://www.llsoc.com/V2R1/OLOA/vehicle_mods.asp

As a note: if you look at the entrant's list, the LS is not in the same class as the V. The only cars that are being:

    Luxury Sedan 2003 BMW M5
    Luxury Sedan 2000 Audi S-4
    Luxury Sedan 2004 Cadillac CTS-V
    Luxury Sedan 2004 Cadillic CTS-V
(I had no idea our competitor Cadillic was making a V)
    Luxury Sedan 2001 Audi S4
    Luxury Sedan2003 Mercedes S55 Kompressor
    Luxury Sedan2001 BMW M5

The Lincoln is listed (strangely) as a mid-priced sedan.

    Re: One Lap of America

The V only produced .783 on the skidpad?
Why doesn't that sound right when Car&Driver pulled .91 with a leaking front tire?

    That's it. Switch our driver.

The LS giving a V competition? Only here at One Lap, it would seem. In the really real world it's not even on the list.

*EDIT* I now see that the skidpad was a WET pad test. The numbers are forgivable then. The driver may stay. But if he lets a lowly LS beat him again, he may need to be abducted and replaced...

    Re: One Lap of America

Okay, so the first day was a Wet Pavement Skid Pad test. That is a test of your tires more than anything else when the skidpad is wet.

Yesterday, they hit the track at Heartland Park.

In Round Two the top 5 were:

    1 49 Mitsubishi Evo MidPri Sed 5:03.183 410
    Paul Gerrard,
    2 25 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 SSGT1 BB 5:10.751 405
    Dan Corcoran, Kyle Corcoran
    3 4 Porsche 996 TT SSGT1 BB 5:10.887 400
    Mark DaVia, Drew Wikstrom
    4 1 Dodge Ram 1500 S U V 5:13.026 395
    Ronald Adee, patrick adee
    5 3 Porsche 911 GT3 SSGT1 BB 5:13.292 390
    David Murry, Royal Ford

I don't know what a Ram 1500 (not even an SRT-10)is doing up there in the standings, but that has to be one impressive truck. Dodge's own Viper came in at 11.

    As for our boys?

    18 43 Cadillac CTS-V Luxury Sed 5:28.192 325
    John Bender, Reed Kryder

    46 44 Cadillic CTS-V Luxury Sed 5:55.962 185
Reg Noble, Vic Regalado, Bill Unwin

    64 59 Lincoln LS MidPri Sed 6:10.310 95

    Heartland Park - Round 3

    The top 5 were:

    1 2 Dodge Viper SSGT1 BB 4:55.177 410
    David Zelkowski, Brian Smith
    2 3 Porsche 911 GT3 SSGT1 BB 4:57.579 405

    Mark DaVia, Drew Wikstrom
    5 8 Chevy Z06 SSGT1 BB 5:01.972 390
    Rodney Sizemore, Rick Sizemore

    The ones that matter :

    16 43 Cadillac CTS-V Luxury Sed 5:22.675 335
    John Bender, Reed Kryder

    46 44 Cadillic CTS-V Luxury Sed 5:47.444 185
Reg Noble, Vic Regalado, Bill Unwin

    72 59 Lincoln LS MidPri Sed DNS/DNF 0
Chet Dhruna, Matthew List, Jaime Venezia

The Lincoln is a no show and I'm starting to wonder if the guys in the #44 CTS-V can drive...
Does anyone know what modifications have been done, if anything, to the competing CTS-Vs?

Reg Noble, Vic Regalado, Bill Unwin

    73 59 Lincoln LS MidPri Sed DNS/DNF 0
Chet Dhruna, Matthew List, Jaime Venezia

It looks like Team Lincoln dropped out of the event...
Also, what is up with the V times? The 3.6L V6 CTS could almost run down the strip that fast. We should be seeing 13's.

Obviously, this was not your typical Lincoln:
    http://www.llsoc.com/V2R1/OLOA/One_Lap_Competition.htm.

They were quite brassy on their website
    http://teamls.blogspot.com/
for the CTS-Vs only beeing 30th. However, let's see what the next days bring.

These #s seem way the hell off to me. 14 second modified V's? The lowest cars (including a GT3) at 12s? Hmm. The guy who I take my car to has a 9.7sec Z06 that is street legal, are you saying he could enter and win the whole thing?

And that truck beating out almost everything on the road course...something doesn't seem right.
