Before I bought the CTS I had a Z06, which I loved but sold it because it was too impratical (and expensive for a college student)... Mainly because it seemed like a hassle to drive it daily. I did have a B&B short throw shifter on it, which made it harder to shift and the clutch was pretty tight on it.
I have heard that the cts-v clutch isn't as hard to push in... Let me know your thoughts on this. How does the V handle as a daily car? Is the insurance as high on it as a sports car like my vette?
Any thoughts on this let me know. |

I don't mind shifting in daily traffic, as long as it's a pleasure to shift. The shifter is a weak point of the V. It's clunky and notchy. If you thought the Z06 was a hassle, you'll probably think the V will be a hassle. You'll get used to the clutch. The insurance costs were surprisingly inexpensive. About on par with my 99 Mazda Millenia! |

Either you like driving a stick or you don't. If a firm clutch pedal ruins the driving experience for you, I'd recommend sticking to automatics.

The V clutch is actually kind of light compared to others I have driven. The shifter is notchy and vague, but like they said, you get used to it. Driving a standard in slow moving traffic is actually preferrable to an auto, because you can use engine braking instead of the brakes. It's just the true stop-and-go that grates on your knee.

If you are even asking this question than a 6-Speed is NOT for you... I agree the shifter is a notchy but I wouldn't trade my 3 6 Speed vehicles for any automatic.... The control and driving involvement one has with a 6SP cannot be matched with an automatic....
If you want to force hands free c-phones ban automatics. |

I drive in traffic all the time, and when its clear, you still get tons of traffic lights. Don't mind at all.
Don't get a car for the statis, you have to want a stick.

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto. 90 miles per day, some highway, some city. Wouldn;t trade my 6 speed for anything. Also if you are asking, you want an automatic. I say man up and keep a car with a gear box that makes driving an experience, and not just a mode of transportation.

Originally Posted by Mystical_Ice i heard it would have both a manual and automatic option | Not too many people can, or are willing to drive a manual. The fact that our cars only come in a 6 speed makes me feel exclusive. I might be petty, or childish, but I brag about it. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
