Its funny how many of us own this car and have never owned a stick before. I have driven them, but just around the block. Not in traffic or anything. Now its like second nature.

And everyone stop complaining about the shifter, I have driven alot of standards, and this one is not that bad. If you want a smooth, short shifter, go buy a Honda.

A Miata is a 4-cylinder sports car. Of course is has a nice positive, short throw shifter. The CTS-V is a monster, not a sports-car. It needs a monster shifter.

You dont really need the heel-toe action on hills...simply release the clutch pedal slowly [with brake still depressed] until you feel the clutch start to catch and rpms drop ever so slightly and you're good to go-let up on the breake and give her the gas. I live in Seattle and it's pretty hilly...I've never stalled it.

That works with torque monsters like the V. It does not work on lesser cars though.

Re: Who daily drives their V? Does the 6-Speed get annoying?

Miata's are extremely fun to drive. So is the RX-8. Even the last gen MPV minivan was fun (for a minivan anyway). As a whole, Mazda has the fun to drive part down pretty good.

Re: Who daily drives their V? Does the 6-Speed get annoying?

Yup, agree. Aside from handling well and having nice smooth power curves, both the older Miata (haven't driven the new one) and the RX-8 have the nifty quality of making you feel as though you're going faster than you are. Which is a good thing, 'cause you're not going as fast as you want to be.

Re: Who daily drives their V? Does the 6-Speed get annoying?

I've been daily driving my V for almost a year now, rain, snow or shine. It is a pleasure to drive under the following conditions: the sunroof isn't rattling very loudly and the clutch is disengaging properly. The car is superb for everything except for snow in which case you better get great snow tires and practice countersteering... alot. The best way to drive this car is with all of the windows down and the sun roof open ahh.

Anyway, the clutch is very light in my opinion and is very easy to use, but mine in particular is either misaligned or is very weak. When you slowly ease off of the clutch pedal the car stutters forward, almost stalling out. My dealer said it was normal a few times, so when I get time away from studying I'll take it to a different dealer.

But anyway, it makes for a good daily driver.

Get out of college, bury yourself in a big fat car payment...

You're worried about auto or 6spd?

I just don't know where to begin.

Save your $ and buy Real Estate.
